Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, December 7, 2015 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Disney's Beauty and the Beast auditions are less than a week away, and the online sign-ups are coming in! This year, you must sign up online by completing the online audition form. All audition information can be found by going to shsmusical.wordpress.com. Still need music? Please head to the SHS Choir Room at the end of the day to pick up music. We are looking forward to seeing all of you at auditions Today, December 7th and Tuesday, December 8th.

Attention seniors!! LAST CHANCE to order cap and gowns will be Friday, December 11th in the morning from 7:30-8:20 in the commons. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE!! That’s Josten’s, December 11th, in the commons before school!

French Club will be having our Holiday Party Tuesday after school in the Commons until 4:20pm. Come for food, crafts and an Ugly Sweater Contest. Bring a drink with you too.

Hola Spanish Club cookie dough sellers! Please pick up cookie dough orders this Wednesday at 2:17 in the Commons. Gracias

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: The Evening Activity Buses will now pickup students at the corner of Washington & Parker St., which is North of the gym & West of the Commons. Please load the bus by 5:20pm or 6:20 pm.

Attention all seniors, Please turn in the yellow diploma forms you were given at the Jostens meeting. Remember to fill it out completely in your best hand writing. Additional copies are available in the guidance office. These need turned in immediately.

Attention: those doing BASEBALL conditioning. This is a reminder that we are working out TONIGHT instead of tomorrow. That's BASEBALL CONDITIONING, tonight at 6:30.

Seniors- The Illinois Student Assistance Commission will be presenting information about financial aid on Dec. 10 in the commons from 6:00-7:00 PM. Please see Mr. Kyes for more information.

Attention: Seniors, you can write your farewells and senior quotes and they will be collected on the 9th, 10th, and 11th. Also, senior baby pictures are due the 18th. And those seniors who are taking their pictures with Grussenmeyer are due the 18th as well. Baby pictures are $10 and Grussenmeyer senior pictures are $18.

Achtung Achtung German Club! Our new German Club T-shirts are here. Please see your German teacher and pick it up.

There will be IS practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays for Scholastic Bowl for both JV and Varsity 3:30-5:00 this week and next. There will be no JV practice the week of the 14th, but there will be varsity practice.

Nyah Webb, Larry Williams, Joseph Abe-Bell and Ejehi Erewele for being honored for academic excellence at the Springfield Urban League annual dinner Friday.

Congratulations to the Speech & Acting Team for a great tournament at Bloomington High School on Saturday. Anna Flinn was 5th overall in varsity original oratory. Kiki Frost was JV champion again in Dramatic Interpretation. Clarie Bess and Charley Yockey also broke into JV Finals. There is a team meeting directly after school in Ms. Negele’s room. The entire team must attend.

The Swimming Senators began their season at the Macomb Invite Saturday, placing third overall. Junior Gage Hamill led the team with wins in the 200 free and 100 fly. The medley relay of Evan Weller, Jude Kneller, Michael Patton and Jake Freer placed third, while the 200 free relay of Freer, Michael Patton, Jake Frech, and Gage placed second and the 400 free relay of Frech, Gage, Matthew Knox, and Jude Kneller placed third. Matthew placed third in the 500 free, Nick Patton was third in the 50 free, and Michael Patton was third in the 100 back. A fabulous way to start the season!

The Lady Senator basketball team beat Decatur MacArthur on Saturday 65 to 28. Montshianna Pulliam led SHS with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures was Kyra Webster with 12 and Ellie Brandt with 10. Next up for SHS is a game Thursday at home against Southeast.

SHS Scholastic Bowl took home the 2nd place trophy out of field of 16 teams at the Athen F/S Tournament Saturday December 5. Ben Norris led the way by answering over 20 toss up questions. Other members of the team who answered tossups were Jack, Mickayla, Ellie, Mick, Alexis, and Sage Congrats to the Springfield JV team!
