Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, February 1, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Attention Sophomores and Juniors interested in CACC, they are having their spring open house is Thursday, February 18 from 5pm-7pm so be sure to mark your calendars.

ATTENTION SENIORS- Any senior who is planning on entering the medical field as a nurse or doctor, please see Mr. Kyes for scholarship information.

Class of 2016, please check the display case across from the main office. If your picture is missing, please contact Class Act Photography immediately at 787-4947 or you will not be in the yearbook.

The SHS Book Fair will be in the library from Friday February 5 to Friday February 12. Stop by and see the Spring Selections.

Attention all students interested in exploring a career in Nursing - Memorial health System is sponsoring a “Teens Experiencing Nursing” camp that runs from July 26th-29th. There is no charge for this camp. Please see Mrs. Kontio in the guidance office for more information. Deadline to apply is Friday April 1st.

A list of juniors and seniors eligible to apply for NHS this year is posted outside of room 356, 326 and the main office. Please see Mrs. Taft or Mr. Kramer for any questions and there will be an information meeting on today, February 1, in the Library at 5:45pm.

Congratulations to Aly Goff and Heath Warren. They both earned runner up awards from SJ-R and Springfield Road Runners Club. They were honored yesterday and earned the cross country team $600.

The Senators won again on Saturday, beating Edwardsville HS 110 - 69. We won 10 of the 12 events. The medley relay of Evan, Matthew, Jude and Michael won, then Gage Hamill swam one of his best times in the 200 this season, followed by Matthew Knox winning the 200 IM in 205.15. Drew Harmon was a show case of talent in the diving, with his top score for the year so far. Gage then won the100 fly, and Josh Moore swam a 2nd best time all year in that event. Michael Patton won the 100 free, wth Jake Frech very close behind. JJ Rios swam his best time all year in the 100 free, and is almost under a minute at 1:00.88. The 200 free relay of Jerry Freetly, Patrick Schoeben, Jake Freer, and Gage won. Evan Weller then won the 100 back and Jude took the 100 breaststroke. Finishing in fine style was the winning 400 free relay of Josh Moore, Jake Freer, Evan Weller and Gage Hamill.
