Good morning Springfield High! Today is Tuesday, February 9, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Juniors and seniors eligible to apply for NHS this year are posted outside of the main office, 326 and 356. Please check the list and let Mr. Kramer in room 326 know if you intend to apply or not. Applications can be picked up in room 326 and are due by 3:30 P.M. on Friday, February 12.

Attention all current 10th Graders ‚Ä” Please turn in your 11th grade registration forms for the 2016-17 school year by the end of this week (2/12/16) to rm. 104 (Guidance Office) . If you need another form, please go to 104 and request one ASAP.

Students, Want to win a prize? Write an essay or do a poster for the African American History Month contests and you might do just that. See the posters in the halls or Mrs. Eslahi in room 254 for more information.

Last chance to buy a flower is Thursday this week. They will be delivered to students on Friday during 3rd and 5th hour. Hurry and buy now before we run out.

The African American History Month Trivia Contest will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in February.

Join us the the auditorium on February 26 for the African American History Program, “Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Congressman John Lewis.

The SHS Book Fair will be in the library until Friday, February 12. Stop by and see the Spring Selections.

Panther Creek Country Club is looking for lifeguards and swim coaches for the summer of 2016. If you are interested in a position applications can be found on our website as well as in the business office of the club. For more information, please contact the clubhouse at (217) 546-4431. Up to date lifeguard certification required.

Chic-fil-a is currently hiring. There is a trailer set up at the building site for applicants to apply. Building site is next to Longhorn Restaurant by the mall.

Chick-fil-A is back! Chick-fil-a nuggets will be sold at both lunch shifts Thursday. $4 gets your 8 nuggets and sauce. Chick-fil-a this Thursday.

Attention NHS members! Friendly reminder that there is a meeting today before and after school in Mrs. Taft's room! If you can't come, please let her know!

Girl scouts of central Illinois at Camp Widjiwagan is currently hiring for summer jobs. See Mrs Devlin for information.

Juniors and Seniors- Webster University will be visiting today, FEBRUARY 9 at 1:35. Please see Mr. Kyes or the Guidance office for a pass.

There will be a mandatory meeting directly after school this Thursday, February 11th in room 116 for any girl not in a winter sport that is interested in softball. See Coach Koger if you cannot make it.

Congratulations SHS wrestlers, we had ten placers who qualified for the sectional tournament this coming weekend. Springfield upended Chatham Glenwood who was ranked thirteenth in State.

First an apology from the coach for the lateness of this announcement. Springfield high won the conference championship with a record number of points on Saturday! We we took first and second place in all three relays! Gage, Matthew Knox and Jake Frech, went 123 and the 200 freestyle. Then Evan Weller won the 200 IM in grand style, beating the swimmer, who won at city. Jake Freer and Nick Patton Took second and third in the 50 free. Andrew Harmon and Dalton Ritter place fourth and sixth in diving. Gage Michael Patton and Josh Moore went 123 in the 100 fly, with Josh Moore swimming a best time by two seconds. Sterling and Patrick Took second and third in the 100 free, with JJ Rios, placing eight with the new PR. Matthew Knox and Jake Frech battled it out in the 500 free, and Josh Moore negative split the 500 for a new Best time! Michael won the 100 backstroke, with Evan placing third and Patrick 6th. Jude took Third in the 100 breast with Misha and Jerry Freetly taking sixth and seventh. Sectionals are in two weeks and we are looking forward to the competition in Edwardsville!
