Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, February 24, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Applications are now being accepted for the 2016-2017 Student School Board Member for the Springfield Public Schools Board of Education. Rising seniors interested in the position can obtain an application in their school's main office or by visiting the Board of Education's page of the District website. Applications are due to Mr. Grossen by Tuesday, March 8.

The Spring college field trip for JUNIORS and SENIORS will be WEDNESDAY MARCH 2 to Illinois State University AND Lincoln College. Please see Mr. Kyes for the permission slip. The first 40 students to return a permission slip will be allowed to attend.

Attention Juniors - If you are interested in applying to be an STS next year, you must complete an application and turn it in to the Guidance Office by 3:30 on Monday. Please make sure you get your application turned in by that time so you will be eligible to be considered for an STS position for next year.

This Friday, we will “Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Congressman John Lewis.” Please join us in the auditorium. Teachers, Please bring your ninth graders the fifth period; bring your tenth graders, sixth period; bring your juniors and seniors, seventh period.

Students, The last day to turn in your posters and/or essays for the African American History Month Contests is this Thursday, February 25th.

Colleges visiting ��“TODAY, FEB. 24- Lincoln College at 1:00, Please see Mr. Kyes or Mrs. Kontio for a pass.

Achtung Achtung German Club! We will have an informational meeting right after school on Thursday, February 25 in the commons to talk about the upcoming International Dinner. If you are planning to attend, please make sure to come to this meeting. Hope to see you there.

The Read for a Lifetime Luncheon is scheduled for this Friday, Feb. 26. If you did not receive a formal invitation yet see Mrs. Dahmane right away. Be sure to let her know whether you will be able to attend.

SENIORS who are planning on attending Lincoln Land Community College in the Fall, please see Mr. Kyes for a field trip opportunity to LLCC on THURSDAY MARCH 3. We are limited to only 40 students. Please see Mr. Kyes in the college room- room 153A in the afternoon.

Attention ALL SOPHOMORES- There is a career field trip to Lincoln Land Community College on THURSDAY MARCH 10. The first 80 sophomore students to return a permission slip will be allowed to attend. Please see Mr. Kyes in the college room for the permission slip.

Attention Prospective Baseball Players- Practice schedules for baseball are available to be picked up in room 166 from Coach Steinwart. Be sure to have physicals and permit cards turned in no later than Monday in order to practice or try out for the teams.

Juniors interested in attending a Risk Management Challenge through the Illinois State University Katie School of Insurance can see Mrs. Devlin. The week long program is July 17-22. Students assume the role as risk management professionals and guide a corporation through many disasters, and implement strategies that ensure the business success. The program is free and there is an application process. See Mrs. Devlin for details.

YEARBOOK WANTS YOU! Students who are hard workers, willing to learn the yearbook process, with good/perfect attendance, please apply. See your guidance dean or Mrs. Eslahi in room 254.

Sophomores… Don’t forget Jostens will be here Today the 23rd during lunch and Wednesday the 24th from 7:30-12:30 in the commons to take class ring orders. Please remember a $60 deposit is due when ordering.

There will be a mandatory meeting for girls interested in softball this Thursday, February 25th in room 116 directly after school detailing times for try outs and practice. See Coach Koger if for some reason you cannot make it.

Congratulations to the Wrestling team for winning as a team. They will wrestle in Marion this weekend.
