Good morning Springfield High! Today is Tuesday, March 1, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Applications are now being accepted for the 2016-2017 Student School Board Member for the Springfield Public Schools Board of Education. Rising seniors interested in the position can obtain an application in their school's main office or by visiting the Board of Education's page of the District website. Applications are due to Mr. Grossen by Tuesday, March 8.

The Spring college field trip for JUNIORS and SENIORS will be WEDNESDAY MARCH 2 to Illinois State University AND Lincoln College. Please see Mr. Kyes for the permission slip. The first 40 students to return a permission slip will be allowed to attend.

Attention Juniors who are interested in the CEO Program for next year: There will be a meeting with some people from the CEO Program today, March 1st at 9:30. You will be called to the auditorium by announcement. Please stop by guidance to leave your name so we know that you want to come to the meeting.

The Best Friends Club will be meeting today during both A and B lunches in Ms. Gehrig's room 130!

Students and Teachers…do you know someone who you think deserves a Be A Senator Shout-out for being RESPECTFUL, being RESPONSIBLE, SHOWING GOOD CITIZENSHIP, being CARING, showing SELF-DISCIPLINE, being COOPERATIVE, demonstrating PERSEVERANCE, or being COURAGEOUS? Fill out a nomination form for a Be A Senator Shout-out. Nominations can be found in all offices, on the SHS website and on the Be a Senator table in front of the Cafeteria. Nominations can be turned in to the Be A Senator box on the table or to Ms Hurley in Rm 169. If you have questions, see Mrs Mitchell or Ms Greco.

Avanti's is Coming! Order your Avanti's Famous Gondola, only $7 or Avanti's Loaf of Bread, only $3. NOW from any German student, German Club student or from Herr Koeppel. Gondola's are Avanti's famous 16" sweeter bread with salami, ham, American cheese, and lettuce. YUM! Order yours now through Wednesday, March 9. All language club members and students, don't forget that if you are entering the poster contest for National Foreign Language Week that it is due to your teacher today, March 1st. Any questions...see you language teacher.

Start off the month of March by doing some good. Join the Me to We club in the We Create Change event. Every day from now until the end of March, your first hour teachers will be collecting change to raise money for the Me to We clubs future school in Tanzania! The first week, we will be collecting pennies, the second week nickels, then dimes, quarters, and dollars. The first hour class to collect the most money will win a donut party! French Club Members...please sign up with Madame Boltz for the International Dinner Thursday, March 3rd. The deadline for sign-ups is next Wednesday. Any questions...see Madame Boltz in Room 268.

Scholastic Bowl will have a practice today from 3:30-4:30. Regionals are at Glenwood High School on Monday March 7. The team should arrange to be at GHS by 4:00pm.

BAS will be selling hot, delicious pizza for $2 per slice on Thursday during both lunch shifts on Thursday in the commons. Pizza, Pizza, Pizza, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday!

Students interested in being in the work program next year must complete an application. You can get an application (orange form) in the guidance office or from Mrs. Devlin or Mr. Koger.
