Prom tickets will be sold during A and B lunch in the commons area every day this week. Single tickets are $20 and a couples ticket is $30. Tickets sold at the door will be single tickets only and cost $30.
SENIORS: The Springfield Urban League is offering the following scholarship:
For graduating seniors who have maintained a "C" average during junior and senior years, are accepted to a college or university and who demonstrate financial need. Application, essay, interview (interviews will be held June 2 and 3). Deadline is May 21. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for application.
Yearbooks will be distributed today after school in the commons. If you are unable to pick it up then, we will also have a table set up in the commons during both lunch shifts the rest of the week May 18-21. There are several extra yearbooks we will sell for $55. We will accept cash only.
Attention students - effective immediately, all students who are assigned to in-house will be asked to give their phone to the in-house supervisor upon entering in-house. The phone will be returned at 3:17 (or when the assigned in-house time is completed)
NHS students! Volunteers are needed for Senior Night and for the graduation ceremony. Both are excellent opportunities to receive an abundance of service hours. Check out the information on the NHS board and in front of room 360. A sign-up sheet is available in front of room 360.
Anyone interested in Cross Country next Fall there will be a meeting, Wednesday, May 19 after school in the commons. The meeting should last 5 minutes. If you cannot attend, please see Coach Devlin for the information.
Girls Swim Team! Parent swim team meeting will be tonight at 6:30 PM in the commons. This is mandatory for all incoming swimmers! If you cannot attend, please contact Coach Neely or Lavonna Burgett.
There will be a Chess Club meeting Thursday at 7:40 AM in Dr. Lescault’s room in the math wing.
All Students who were a part of the meetings for Rally Against Childhood cancer and who have not received their NHS/Volunteer hours, please come and see Mrs. Stahly.

Attention SHS: The class of 2013 is having a t-shirt designing contest for their class shirts. The contest will go from now until Friday, May 21st! Please turn in all submissions to room 352 or room 362. The winner will receive a $10 gift card to Dairy Queen and a free t-shirt! YUMMY!
Attention Class of 2013: We will be taking a trip to Six Flags! WOOHOO! The trip is scheduled for June 4th. The cost is $60, which will include transportation and admission. COME TO ROOM 352 for more info! It will be amazing, so make sure you do not miss it! 20-13 WHAT!
The Lady Senators Track team finished 2nd at the Sectional Track Meet held at Memorial Stadium Friday night. 14 athletes, the most in school history, qualified for the state track meet at Eastern Illinois University this weekend. Qualifying for the state meet were: Sarah Maxson – 1st in High Jump, Laurel Neposchlan – 1st place in Pole Vault and setting a new school record of 11’4”. The 1st place relay of Kirby Hale, Christina Kropid, Miriam Agamah, and Sarah Maxson. Kirby Hale in the 800, Madie Alexander in the 1600, Maggie Cornelius and Christy Rolf in the 3200, Maggie also set a new school record of 11:33.56. Sarah Ward in the Pole Vault, the 4 x 800 team of Maddie Alexander, Kirby Hale, Sarah Ward, and Leora Reyhan. The 4 x 100 team of Lexia Swope, Brytani Cavil, Miriam Agamah, and Chasity Newman. The 4 x 200 team of Swope, Natasha Wilkins, Agamah, and Newman. In the prelims of the 200, Lexia Swope ran a 25.86 to set a new school record. Good luck this weekend at State!
The SHS boys track and field team competed in the central state 8 conference meet Friday night. The boys finished 2nd to Chatham Glenwood. Conference champions were: the 4x8 relay team of Sam Cross, Pat McHatton, Nick Moore, and Michael Simon; Titus Hughes in the high jump; Justin Lee in the 800, and Michael Simon in the 1600. Also earning all conference honors by bettering state qualifying times were: Nick Moore in the 1600, Malik Harrison in the 400, and the 4x1 relay team of Titus Hughes, Marquis Robinson, Malik Harrison, and Jordan Collins. The boys will next compete at the Capitol Area Classic Monday night and the sectional meet on Friday night.
