Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, March 14, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Any student who wishes to sign up for an AP exam needs to bring $92 per test to the guidance office and sign up no later than next Friday, March 18th. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Barnes.

Students interested in being in the work program next year must complete an application. You can get an application (orange form) in the guidance office or from Mrs. Devlin or Mr. Koger.

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Mar 22, from 8:30am-2:00pm, in the Blood Mobile instead of the Auditorium. The Blood Mobile will be parked outside the Commons, so check-in will be in the Commons. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Mar 21. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Commons at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

Any student interested in majoring in Accounting in college, there is a high school preview night for the accounting profession on May 5. Please see Mr. Kyes for the application.

Tryouts for the 2016-2017 SHS Cheerleading squads are approaching. Tryout packets can be picked up in the main office or from Coach Lauer in room 156. The tryout process will begin with a mandatory tryout meeting Monday, March 21st at 5:30pm in the SHS Commons. This is a MANDATORY informational meeting for parents and candidates that will provide all the details of the 2016-2017 season. All candidates are required to attend. Any questions please contact Coach Lauer.
Seniors, We are going on a field trip to Chicago on April 6 to see the play Othello and have a few seats left. See your literature teacher for more info.

Students, The Capitoline Yearbook is still on sale at $70 a copy. You may pay 1/2 now and the other when the books come in. See Mrs. Eslahi in room 254 to purchase yours.

Channel 1450 is having a dance off “ The teams included are Glenwood, Jacksonville, Taylorville, Rochester, Riverton, SHG, Lanphier and SHS so be sure to go to Channel 1450’s website and vote for SHS Dance team.

Any junior interested in majoring in Business- U of I has a summer program for you! Please see Mr. Kyes for more information. The application is due by April 1.

The Lady Senators Track and Field team competed in the Jersey Thaw Invitational at Pricipia College Saturday. Leading the Lady Senators was Ozzy Erewele with 1st place finish and new school record in the 60 meter dash (7.76) and a first place inish in the 200 (26.4) Finishing in second was Kyra Webster in the triple jump and Lauren Ferguson in the 400. Finishing in 3rd place was the 4X800 team of Gabby Wood, Abby Norris, Madison Devlin and Madison Ridley. Way to go Girls!!

Varsity Boys Basketball needs to turn in uniforms and sweats to the Main office by Friday, March 18. NO EXCEPTIONS!
