Seniors: Over the Moon Productions is offering a $500 scholarship to seniors who intend to major or minor in an aspect of theater arts. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for the application. Deadline is April 30.
Permission forms for anyone bringing a guest to Prom who is not a Springfield High student, are now available in the Main office. Guests must be at least in ninth grade, and not older than 19.
Summer School applications have arrived, and they can be picked up in the Guidance Office or Main Office.
Attention Juniors - Power-up your brains before the PSAE! The PTO is providing a free BrainFood Breakfast on Wednesday and Thursday morning. Bagels, fruit, juice and milk will be available between 7:45 and 8:15 in the Cafeteria. Enter through the Southeast Entrance and come let us serve you breakfast and wish you well! The PTO will also provide snacks for you during the break in testing each day.
The Prairie State Exam will be given to all Juniors today in the afternoon and during the morning of April 28 & 29. Juniors are to bring two pencils and a calculator to their testing rooms.
Seniors: The following scholarships are available from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
Georgia Pillow Rountree Scholarship awarded to a student who will attend a historically black college or university;
Alma Taylor Jones Scholarship is awarded to a student who is majoring in education and plans to teach as a career;
General Scholarship-awarded to student(s) based on the discretion of the scholarship committee and based on availability of overall scholarship funds. Essay and 2 letters of recommendation. Deadline is May 10.
SENIORS: Frontiers International announces a scholarship for students who will be entering a college or university in the fall and who need assistance with the cost of tuition. The scholarship is paid directly to the school. GPA of "C" or better, demonstrate community involvement, and an essay on why you should be considered for this scholarship. Deadline is May 14. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for application.
SENIORS: The Springfield Urban League is offering the following scholarship:
For graduating seniors who have maintained a "C" average during junior and senior years, are accepted to a college or university and who demonstrate financial need. Application, essay, interview (interviews will be held June 2 and 3). Deadline is May 21. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for application.
The annual Student Staff Basketball game will be held on Thursday, April 29 during 7th hour. The student team will be decided by a drawing on Thursday during lunch. You may submit your name by paying $1 per entry. There will be boys and girls on the team. No girl or boy basketball player is eligible to play but we will ask you to either coach or ref the game. If you have any questions, please see Miss Maloney.
Orders for Be A Senator shirts will be accepted through Friday, 4/30 in room 106.
Attention NHS seniors: The monthly meeting to submit hours is this Wednesday, April 28. Please meet in room 356 before school at 8:00, or immediately after school to submit your hours and receive updated information.

Attention German Club: If you would like to play Dodgeball against Southeast German Club, please stop by in room 250 to sign up. The match will be on Thursday, April 29, at 6 PM in the SHS Basketball Gym.
The Boys track and field team placed 4th at the Lanphier invite on Saturday. Top placers for SHS were: Jordan Collins, 5th in the 200; Nick Moore, 5th in the 1600; the 4x800 relay team of Pat McHatton, Nathan Hoffman, Sam Cross, and David Thomas placed 3rd; the 4x400 relay team of Adam Bellfellah, Malik Harrison, Marquis Robinson, and Justin Lee placed 3rd; Tyler pence, 3rd in the 3200; Michael Simon, 3rd in the 1600; Titus Hughes placed first in the high jump, and Justin Lee placed first in the 800. The boys will travel to the Prospect invite Friday night, then will compete at City on Tuesday next week. Come out and support the boys track team at city as they go for their second straight city title!!
Dust off your Blue Suede shoes and come see the outstanding SHS cast perform ALL SHOOK UP. Show times are this Friday, April 30th and Saturday, May 1st at 7:30 PM and Sunday, May 2nd at 5 PM in the SHS Auditorium. Admission is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available in the main office and at the door on performance night.
