SENIORS: Please pay attention to the FAFSA preferred filing date at the school you intend to attend. Many state schools have March 1 as the preferred filing date. Check your school's website if you are unsure.

Reminder: FAFSA Workshop Tonight 6:30-8:30 in the Commons. If you need additional help in filing the FAFSA, don't miss this meeting.

Last day to get your Valentine Rose Teddy Bears is tomorrow. Cost is $3. They will be delivered Thursday during 3rd hour.

Scholarships of $7500 await 25 outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 nationwide. If you are a star both in the classroom and on the field, the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustaches of the Year Award Program may be for you. To find out more, go to bodymilk.com Deadline is March 5.

Seniors: the Making It Count "Winning Characteristics" Scholarship is now available at www.makingitcount.com/scholarship Deadline is June 11.

The Bunn scholarship for excellent students who need financial aid.
The Skelton scholarship for seniors needing financial assistance.
The Davey Loan program.

The following scholarship is now available for a senior from Ms. Elmore:
The Polly Roesch vocal music scholarship.

10th, 11th, or 12th graders: Are you interested in visiting 2 small private liberal arts colleges in one day and get a free lunch? We will be going to Illinois College and MacMurray in Jacksonville on Thursday, Feb. 18th. Get your permission slips in the guidance office from Mrs. Povse.

If you are interested in being on next year’s yearbook staff you must complete an application. You can get an application from your guidance dean, in the guidance office or in the main office. Applications are due no later than February 19.

Men's soccer players: a representative from Blackburn College admissions and a coach from the men's soccer program will be here Today during 3rd hour. Sign up in Guidance to meet with these reps.

Are you looking for part time summer employment and enjoy baseball? Kids First Youth Organization is looking for UMPIRES. Students must be 16-18 years old. Pay is $20 for base umpires and $30 for home plate umpires. Must have knowledge of baseball. See Mrs. Devlin in room 112 before school for an application.

Be A Senator is sponsoring 2nd annual Be A Senator t-shirt contest. Artwork should include the words "Be A Senator" and "Springfield High School". Please submit your entries with the artist's name and grade on the back to Ms. Greco in room 106. The winning artist will receive $50 and a free shirt. All entries should be turned in no later than Thursday, Feb. 11th.

This year's African American History Month's theme is 'Celebrating Gwendolyn Brooks: An Illinois Original.' Poster Contest and Essay Contest ads are in the hallways. Wednesdays and Fridays of this month, participate in the African American History Trivia Contest. March 5, join us in the auditorium for our annual celebration

You have a vision. You have a voice. Let us publish them in our English Department's magazine 'Vision and Voices.' Submit your original poetry, original prose and original art to Mrs. Eslahi in room 254

Put on your tropical attire and come out to SHS annual Beat Back the Winter Blues night at the Boys basketball game on Friday, February 12th. Prizes will be awarded to the girl and boy student sporting the best costume! Leis will be handed out as strawberry daiquiris and margaritas are sold. Come join us as we escape to a tropical paradise!

Hey Hey JSA! We are having a meeting this Wednesday. Come for food and fun and bring your friends!

Free Pizza – if you are 18 years old, white or African-American. Come sign up in Ms. Dvorak’s room, room 128. You will be asked your opinion on organ donation and get Antonio’s Pizza. Please sign up ASAP!

Want to join 21st Century? Make sure you've got the proper credentials! Enrollment forms can be obtained from the Guidance office as well as in room 160 after school. If you or your parents have questions, please contact Ms. Johnson, Site Coordinator. Please be prepared with your paperwork and your student ID on your first day. No Student will be admitted to the program without those very important things. Thank you for your cooperation!

Love Hip Hop? Love yourself? Come to the BASUAH Health Summit and Hip Hop Symposium on Saturday, February 20 at UIS. Please see a poster around school for registration information. Admission is free but you will definitely walk away with a wealth of knowledge! Questions? Ask any YWB/BASUAH Ambassador or see Ms. Johnson in 21st Century.

On Thursday February 25, the 21st Century Program will host a day of service. Please join our supply drive for the homeless! We are collecting various essentials such as toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, socks, and washcloths to make kits to be given out at a local shelter. You can place your donated items in the boxes provided by the Guidance Office and in the Commons. All items should be new, unused and unopened. We will continue to collect these items all the way up until the 25th. If you would like to help us sort and put together kits on that day, please contact Ms. Johnson in the 21st Century Program in 160 after school.

Attention German Club: If you would like to have a German Club T-shirt, please see Herr Koeppel in room 250 to sign-up. Deadline is Wednesday, February 17th.

Mandatory Girls Swim meeting Thursday at 7 PM in the commons. Bring sweats!!
