Valentine Rose Teddy Bears will continue to be sold this week and next week during lunch in the commons. Cost is $3. They will be delivered Feb. 11 during 3rd hour. Time is running out â€“ Last day to buy a bear is next Wed, Feb. 10
Girls interested in engineering: Northwestern University is sponsoring the 39th annual Career Day for Girls on Feb. 27. Reservations are required and must be received by Feb. 12. See Mrs. Povse for application and details.
A $1000 scholarship is available to a senior female athlete who is in the top 10% of her class and is involved in school activities and has good citizenship. See Mrs. Stahly if you would like to be nominated for this scholarship through the LPGA State Farm Classic.
Scholarships of $7500 await 25 outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 nationwide. If you are a star both in the classroom and on the field, the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustaches of the Year Award Program may be for you. To find out more, go to bodymilk.com Deadline is March 5.
Seniors: the Making It Count "Winning Characteristics" Scholarship is now available at www.makingitcount.com/scholarship Deadline is June 11.

10th, 11th, or 12th graders: Are you interested in visiting 2 small private liberal arts colleges in one day and get a free lunch? We will be going to Illinois College and MacMurray in Jacksonville on Thursday, Feb. 18th. Get your permission slips in the guidance office from Mrs. Povse.
If you are interested in being on next yearâ€™s yearbook staff you must complete an application. You can get an application from your guidance dean, in the guidance office or in the main office. Applications are due no later than February 19.
Men's soccer players: a representative from Blackburn College admissions and a coach from the men's soccer program will be here on Feb. 9 at 3rd hour. Sign up in Guidance to meet with these reps.
It's time for auditions for the Springfield High Musical "All Shook Up"" This is a faced paced, song filled, dancing show. All singer dancers and actors are asked to audition. Dance auditions will be TOMORROW. Sign up for a time slot on the choir room door. Vocal/Acting auditions will be on Friday Feb. 5, 3:30-8 PM. Again, all sign up sheets are on the choir room door. FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Monday, February 8th, from 9am - 2pm (the final donors will begin around 2pm in order to finish around 3pm). Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. Students must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Friday, February 5th. Are you looking for part time summer employment and enjoy baseball? Kids First Youth Organization is looking for UMPIRES. Students must be 16-18 years old. Pay is $20 for base umpires and $30 for home plate umpires. Must have knowledge of baseball. See Mrs. Devlin in room 112 before school for an application.
There will be no Student Council meeting today. All committee heads should see Miss Maloney during lunch today.
Be A Senator is sponsoring 2nd annual Be A Senator t-shirt contest. Artwork should include the words "Be A Senator" and "Springfield High School". Please submit your entries with the artist's name and grade on the back to Ms. Greco in room 106. The winning artist will receive $50 and a free shirt. All entries should be turned in no later than Thursday, Feb. 11th.
Attention Baseball Players! There will be a short meeting Friday after school in the Commons for all guys planning to try out for baseball next month. If you want to play baseball and you are not currently in a winter sport, you need to be there or see Coach in room 320 if you cannot attend.
