Seniors interested in a business-related field within the state of Illinois can apply for the Kathryn Hansen $500 scholarship. Essay and 2 letters of recommendation. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for the application. Deadline is Feb. 12, 2010.
The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation scholarship is now available. Students who plan to attend LLCC should get a copy from Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse. The scholarship is also available at www.llccfoundation.org Deadline is Feb. 1
SENIORS: Please check the scholarship bulletin board outside room 106 or the SHS online Guidance / scholarships site for new scholarship opportunities. New scholarships for students planning to enter teaching, physical therapy, occupational therapy, business, transportation or logistics, health care and Affiliation with the Scottish Rite Masons. Check with Mrs. Povse or Mr. Lawson for specifics.
SAVE THE DATE: FAFSA Workshop on Feb. 9, 6:30-8:30 in the Commons. If you need additional help in filing the FAFSA, don't miss this meeting.

French Club will be having its annual café’ day after school today in room 268 until 4 PM.
We have a new food item to be sold today. The Junior Class is selling Burger King double cheeseburgers for $1.50. First come, first serve so you better hurry to the commons today. You may also pick up a fleece order form if you are a Junior and still haven’t ordered one.
Attention Class of 2013! If you are ordered a class t-shirt, and paid for it, please pick it up in room 352 during the day or after school. Get them this week please! Again, you only received a shirt if you pre-ordered and paid!
There will be a Rally Against Childhood Cancer meeting tomorrow in room 522. We will discuss our plan the next few weeks. Be sure to come please.

Anyone wearing red or black Springfield shirt on Friday can sign up in Coach Reed’s room on Friday for a chance to win a Nike bag. Come support the Senators against the Chatham Titan on Friday night.
The SITE Club will be meeting in the library after school on Friday to plan activities for the rest of the year.
Girls interested in engineering: Northwestern University is sponsoring the 39th annual Career Day for Girls on Feb. 27. Reservations are required and must be received by Feb. 12. See Mrs. Povse for application and details.
Do you have a passion for acting? Have you always wanted a chance to learn or a place for your talent to grow? Wouldn’t it be great if there were a club? Well, your needs have been answered! Come sign up in the main office. We would like all sign up to be completed by Friday the 22nd.
A $1000 scholarship is available to a senior female athlete who is in the top 10% of her class and is involved in school activities and has good citizenship. See Mrs. Stahly if you would like to be nominated for this scholarship through the LPGA State Farm Classic.
There will be a short meeting after school on Wednesday in room 330 for any girl interested in playing softball this year. If you are planning on trying out but will be unable to attend this meeting, please talk to Coach Seiple.
The boys track and field team will begin official practice on Wednesday January 20th. All students who wish to participate in boys track that are not in a winter sport are expected to attend. Any questions or concerns, please see coach Cotner.
