Seniors interested in a business-related field within the state of Illinois can apply for the Kathryn Hansen $500 scholarship. Essay and 2 letters of recommendation. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for the application. Deadline is Feb. 12, 2010.
The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation scholarship is now available. Students who plan to attend LLCC should get a copy from Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse. The scholarship is also avaiable at www.llccfoundation.org Deadline is Feb. 1
The Lillian Glover scholarship for seniors interested in the field of education or an education related field is now available from Mr. Lawson.
Hey Springfield High. Would you like to help the environment? Would you like to help your school? Do you need volunteer hours? The Environmental Club recycles paper, plastic bottle, and aluminum cans every Tuesday and Thursday after school. Please join us. Come to Ms. Vander Leest's room 510 after school and we can get you started. Everyone is welcome.
Attention Class of 2013, class shirts will be on sale this week during A and B lunch in the commons. The cost of the shirts is $15. These are pre-orders, so grab your money and represent 2-0-1-3!
The choirs of SHS will be holding their holiday concert and Holiday cookie walk on Monday Dec. 14 at 7 PM. Enjoy the wonderful music and buy a plate of homemade cookies for $5
Skipped detentions will result in a day of In-House being assigned for the day following the skipped detentions through finals week.

Fellow Senators, Have you been wondering what service hours are and why you need them?
Service hours are documented hours of volunteering your time for a good cause. 3 reasons to do service hours: 1. Looks great on college apps, 2. gives you work experience, and 3. can keep you occupied in a positive way. Vykye Johnson, Parent Educator at Butler School is looking for volunteers. Butler is having a family event on Dec. 15 from 4:30-6:30. Please see the NHS board for contact info.

The Boys Swimming & Diving team will have a triangular meet on Saturday, December 12, at 1 pm, at Eisenhower Pool. SHS will be competing against Jacksonville and Lincoln. Please come and support the team.
The Lady Senator basketball team jumped out to an 8-point 1st quarter lead and cruised the rest of the way by beating SHG 72 to 52. SHS was led in scoring by Zahna Medley with 22 points, Demi VanDerWal added 15 and Kelly Korza chipped in with 12. Next up for SHS is a game tomorrow night against Belleville Altoff at Lincoln Land starting at 7:30. Good job ladies.
