Morning Announcements for Wednesday, December 2, 2009
By now every student should have an ID CARD. If you do not have one, please check in the Guidance Office during lunch this week. There is a fee of $3.00 to replace your ID card. The paper replacements are no longer available. Students need to have their ID card to attend school activities as well as to purchase lunches. Each Student should have their ID card with them at all times.
Juniors and Seniors: Check out the bulletin boards in the hallway outside of Guidance for college and scholarship-related information. Check the school website under Guidance for college representative dates and scholarship information.

Does your child consistently excel in class? There is a pivotal meeting in Springfield, tonight at 6 PM at 801 N Rutledge, you should attend. An Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy representative will be present to discuss another choice at excellence for high school. Meet area IMSA parents who know what providing better educational opportunities for their kids is all about.
The German Advent calendars have arrived. German Club is selling these Advent calendars for $4 a piece. Please hurry and come to room 250 to get them before they are gone.
Junior class is selling black class of 2011 fleeces. They come full zip or ¾ zip and cost $35. They make great holiday gifts. Call or email Mrs. Pence at 525-3100 or firstname.lastname@example.org for order forms or pick one up in room 210. The next order is due today to guarantee a delivery by the holidays.
Jostens will be here today, between 7:30 AM & 1 PM in the commons to accept graduation orders.
There will be a rally against childhood cancer meeting Friday after school in Mr. Goff’s room, room 522.
The Class of 2012 will be holding an election for class treasurer. If you are interested in running for the treasurer of your class, come to a meeting during both lunch shifts on Thursday, December 3 in room 124. There will be a Math Club meeting today in Mrs. Pence’s room 210 at 3:30 PM. You must turn in your $10 dues and information sheet by this meeting or your are no longer in Math Club. Bring T-shirt ideas to the meeting. We will be having Grandma’s cookies, don’t miss out!
Attention Spanish Club members: Permission slips for free bowling on December 4th are due by 3:30 PM Thursday, December 3rd.

Seniors interested in a business-related field within the state of Illinois can apply for the Kathryn Hansen $500 scholarship. Essay and 2 letters of recommendation. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for the application. Deadline is Feb. 12, 2010.
Three students from the Springfield High Band have been selected to be in the All-State Band. They are Stuart Foster, Greg Knox, and Hannah Struck. Congratulations.
The Lady Senator basketball team jumped out early to a quick lead and beat Lanphier 79 to 42. SHS was led in scoring by Zahna Medley with 19 points. Also, Demi VanDerWal, Kasi and Kelly Korza each scored in double figures. Next up is a game tomorrow night at Rochester. Good job ladies.
