Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, April 23, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Prom tickets will be $35 for a couple and $25 for a single if purchased before the dance. Purchase your tickets during both lunch shifts. Prom is at the Illinois Building at the Fairgrounds on April 30th from 8-11 pm. Any questions see a senior class officer or Mr. Kramer.

Freshmen students who have Mrs. Taft should report to the commons Monday morning for PARCC testing. Taft’s freshmen classes will test Monday during periods 1-3 and 5-7 and Tuesday during periods 1-3 and 5-7.

Springfield High School Class of 2018 Garage Sale, When: May 14 (7a.m.-12p.m.), Where: 1010 Williams Blvd. Near Washington Park and Why: to Raise money for Prom.

Achtung German Club! Atencion Spanish Club! We still have a few open spots for our trip to Six Flags on Saturday, May 7. Please see Herrn Koeppel in room 250 or Senor Reichert in room 260 ASAP to sign up with a deposit of $20 if you are interested in coming along.

Achtung Achtung German Club! We will be showing the German movie "Anatomy 2" after school on Tuesday, April 26 in room 250. Please see the parent-permission form on the German Club calendar online for more information. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Hope to see you there.

It’s not too late to purchase your copy of the 2016 Capitoline Yearbook. You can pay 1/2 now and the other when the book arrives the first part of May. See Mrs. Eslahi in room 254 for more details.

The lady Senators Track and Field team won the Chatham Co-ed Invitational Friday night. The Senators were lead by double winners Ozzy Erewele in the 100 with a new school record time of 12.03, the 200 (25.86), and Nicole Swehla in the shot (35'3) and the discus (105'3). Other first place finishers were Aly Goff in the 800 (2:23.57), Lauren Ferguson in the 300 low hurdles (45.98), and the 4x100 and 4x200 teams of Chieme Udaku, Lauren Ferguson, Kyra Webster, and Ozzy Erewele. Finishing in 2nd were Kyra Webster in the 100 hurdles (16.09) and Emily Smoot in the pole vault. Third place finishers were Madison Ridley in the 3200 (12:57.13), Hannah Burnes in the long jump (16'8), Chieme Udaku in the triple jump (33'7), and the 4x800 relay of Lanae Lang, Abby Norris, Carrie Rolf, and Grace Thompson. Finishing in 4th place were Carrie Rolf in the long jump (16'6) and the triple jump (33'1/2), and the 4x400 relay of Aly Goff, Jennifer Parsons, Aly White, and Kyra Webster.

The Girls soccer team defeated Metamora on Saturday 3-1. Katie Collins , Cressa Wagner and Sarah Cross scored for the Senators. The Senators host Lanphier tonight at 5 pm.

The F/S boys track and field team won the Lanphier Invite on Saturday. First place finisher for SHS were: Alex Burnom in the 200, Alex Dickerson in the 400, Barrett Kurman in the 3200, the 4x100 relay Alex Dickerson, Dee Kalala, Qa'Ron Hawkins and Cameron Jones, the 4x400 relay team of Joseph Ratsch, Alex Dickerson, Dee Kalala and Caleb Small, and Cameron Jones won the long jump. Congrats to the boys!

The Varsity boys track team finished 4th at the Lanphier invite on Saturday. Event champions for SHS were: the 4x100 relay team of Deon Avant, Nnamdi Onyewuchi, Eddie Smith and Wendel Burns, and the 4x800 relay team of Will Formea, Jackson Esela, Logan Besalke, and Jarrett Gary.
