Attention Attention Juniors and Seniors! The following schools are scheduled to visit: - May 13 John Robert Powers Performing Arts Academy, Chicago (lunch). Don't forget that passes are not required for lunch visits but you must have a pass from the guidance office up to the day before to attend the college sessions! Calendar and posters are on the Senior bulletin board, located by the Guidance office door, will have date and time the university or college will be in the building. Please ask in the Guidance office for a college pass to attend these sessions!

Prom tickets are on sale today during lunch in the commons. Ticket prices are $30 a couple and $20 a single, tickets will be sold as single tickets only for $25 at the door. Remember if your date does not attend Springfield High, you must pick up a form from the main office for your date to take to their high school and get permission.

The Illinois State Board of Education is taking applications for the Student Advisory Council to ISBE for the 2009-10 school year. Members are invited to attend Board meetings and sessions of the General Assembly. For more information, see Mrs. Pohlman. The deadline to apply is today.

Juniors who missed the PSAE should report to the commons at 8:30 on Today.

Attention all Freshmen who have had Mr. Taylor for Drivers Ed: You have to pay your $50 driving fee in order to be scheduled for Behind the Wheel. Remember: If you don't pay, you don't drive!

Hey Juniors and Seniors! Prom is right around the corner. Guys who still need to rent Tuxedos should check out Men's Warehouse located in the White Oaks mall, just below Sears. Hurry in because styles are going fast!

Seniors, please make sure that all library books are returned to Mrs. Dahmane before cap and gown day. Any missing book fees should be paid promptly.

Attention Seniors!! Look for the lists of names posted outside the Guidance office and the Main office. These students have items or books not returned to staff. Your cap and gown will be held until these items are cleared, it is your responsibility to return items or pay what is due. If you have library materials checked out, get those returned. Check with Mrs. Krekel in the Guidance office regarding these issues as soon as possible.

Attention all JSA members! Get involved in the real democratic process! All members should come to the meeting TODAY after school in Mr. Lightfoot's room as we begin the election process for next year's officers. Today will be nominations and speeches by all those interested in running and next Thursday will be elections. See you then!

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN THE THEATRICAL ARTS: Do you want to learn all there is to know about the production of a show? Well now's your chance! This fall students will be offered the opportunity to serve as part of the Fall Play's staff. 3-6 APPRENTICESHIP positions are available for any student interested in learning the techniques of Costume, Prop, and Hair & Make-up Design. Sound interesting? Then pick up an application from the main office, Mrs. Yoggerst's room, or Ms. Elmore's room.

Reminder to all NHS students attending the Golden Laurel Banquet next Wednesday, tomorrow is your last chance to purchase your ticket!! Tickets are available in the Main office and are $28 a piece.

Mrs. Devlin has another summer job opening at an Animal Hospital. Job responsibilities would be answering phones, making appointments, Patient check in and putting patients in rooms. See Mrs. Devlin in room 112 before school if you are interested.

The Phi Gamma Delta Black Diamond Scholarship for males attending the U of I is now available from Mr. Lawson.

Prom King and Queen elections will be held this Friday, May 8, at lunch in the commons.
The SHS Baseball Team went into the 7th inning yesterday against Southeast with a 6- all tie, but the Spartans exploded for 8 runs in their half to win going away. The Senator offense was again solid with 10 hits, but it was not enough to erase the 8 run deficit. Joe Bridges and Tyler Muncy led the way with 3 hits apiece, followed closely by Brad Defreitas with two. Muncy, Jake Bradshaw, and Matt Ruff all had triples. Next up is a 1:30 contest Saturday against Peoria Woodruff at the University of Illinois- Chicago.

The boys tennis team had yet another domination last night. They played Decatur St. Teresa and won 8 - 1. Winners for the team were Nick Silliman, Ben Harbison, Pat Gaffigan, Ross White, Grant Robinson, and Ben Trapp. The premier match of the night was won by the dynamite double duo of spirited Ben Harbison and veteran Nick Sililman. The pair pulled a 6 - 0, 6 - 0 victory with crushing forehands from Harbison and monster serves from Silliman. The boys record is now 10 -1.
