The boys track and field team competed at 2 different meets on Friday night. They sent some members of the team to the Champaign Invite. Top Placers for SHS at Champaign were: Nick Moore in the 800, Cameron Stuva in the 1600, Tyler Pence in the 3200, Joli Odele in the Discus, and Shane Ford in the Triple Jump. The other members of the team went up to The Prospect Invite outside of Chicago. Typically one of the fastest meets in the state every year. The boys competed great and came home ready to make a push for a state trophy in a few weeks. Top placers up at Mount Prospect were, Brandon Stewart in the 800, Jordan Collins in the 100, Neil Houlihan in the 110m Hurdles, and the 4x400 team of Marquis Robinson, Jordan Collins, Brandon Stewart, and Neil Houlihan. Houlihan also competed in the 300m Hurdles where he won the event, set a new school record, and ran the top time in the state at that event. Great job to all the boys! This week marks the biggest week of the season so far, as the boys will be competing at the city track and field meet on Tuesday night. SHS hasn't won an outright city title since 1966. The boys have a great shot to break that streak on Tuesday!! Come out to Memorial stadium and cheer on the boys as they shoot for a city title!!

The SHS Baseball Team came back from a 10 - oh deficit on Saturday to pull within 11 to 7, but then Granite City pulled away for a 15 to 8 win over the Senators. Next up is city play tomorrow against Southeast at 6:30 at Lanphier Park.
