Progress reports will be distributed in homeroom today at 1:50 PM. Also there will be a Boy Scout survey to conduct for all 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. Teachers - please remember to check you mailboxes at the beginning of 5th hour today to insure you have all required items to distribute for homeroom today.

Springfield High School is proud to present Rodger's and Hammerstein's revered musical "Oklahoma!" Performances are Friday and Saturday, May 1st and 2nd, at 7:30p.m., plus Sunday, May 3rd at 5:00p.m. Ticket prices are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the door or by calling Gabrielle at 525-3100.

Attention Attention Juniors and Seniors! The following schools are scheduled to visit: - May 5 Navy (lunch), May 6 SCI (Benedictine University @ Springfield) 2:15. Don't forget that passes are not required for lunch visits but you must have a pass from the guidance office up to the day before to attend the college sessions! Calendar and posters are on the Senior bulletin board, located by the Guidance office door, will have date and time the university or college will be in the building. Please ask in the Guidance office for a college pass to attend these sessions!

Prom tickets go on sale Monday, May 4 during lunch at the commons. Ticket prices are $30 a couple and $20 a single, tickets will be sold as single tickets only for $25 at the door.

There will be a mandatory SITE Club meeting after school tomorrow in room 216 for all those going on the Six Flags trip.

The Illinois State Board of Education is taking applications for the Student Advisory Council to ISBE for the 2009-10 school year. Members are invited to attend Board meetings and sessions of the General Assembly. For more information, see Mrs. Pohlman. The deadline to apply is May 7th.

Today during homeroom students who pre paid for a yearbook will receive a receipt. You must keep this receipt and present it along with a picture ID in order to get your yearbook. Yearbooks are tentatively scheduled to be distributed sometime the week of May 18. Listen to the morning announcements for details regarding time and location. If you have questions see Mrs. Devlin in room 112 before school.

The last Literature Club meeting of the year will be Wednesday, May 6 afterschool in Ms. Negle's room. Come to discuss last month's books, get a summer reading list, and eat lots of food! Don't forget the Literature Club meeting May 6!

The SHS Baseball Team kept itself in the ballgame with a solid offense, but the pitching and defense struggled in a 16 to 7 loss to the Lions of Lanphier. Jacob Bradshaw and Seth Hale each had 3 hits including a double, and Tyler Muncy and Joe Bridges contributed two hits and 2 RBI's a piece to go along with 2 from Hale, but it was not enough in the end. Next up for the Senators is a noon game Saturday against Granite City at Chamberlain Park.

College Bound Seniors: Today is college decision day across the U.S. Be sure to inform the schools where you have been accepted of your decision, especially the schools you will NOT be attending. It is a courtesy to these schools as there may be students on a wait list waiting for the spot you are not taking.

Yesterday at the Career Development Conference, Springfield had two students receive awards for their hard work and talents in two areas heavily focus on in the curriculum. JILG gave awards to the top 4 students in each contest and in the 21 programs at the CDC yesterday that was about 700-800 students. Arlena Broomfield finished 3rd in the state in the Employment Contest. Arlena had to fill out an application to a local business, submit a Cover Letter and Resume, and then at yesterday's conference she had a mock interview with 4 judges. Tiffany Hayes finished 1st in the Portfolio Contest! Tiffany had to create a professional portfolio that included Picture Page, Autobiography, Why You Should Hire Me Statement, Cover Letter, Resume, Thank You Letter, Letter of Resignation, transcripts, Letters of Recommendation, etc. Congratulations Arlena and Tiffany!

There will be a NHS meeting on Tuesday, May 5th for all junior club members. Meetings will be at 7:45 in the morning and immediately after school in Mrs. Koen's room on the fourth floor. See any junior officers with questions.
