Attention ALL Students! Literature Club will be hosting its Open Mic Night next Tuesday March 10 in the Commons at 6:00 pm. Any student interested in performing at this event should sign up in the main office ASAP! Don't forget to get an act together for Open Mic Night on March 10!
It's cold outside, so what's better than a fuzzy, warm pair of sweatpants? That's right Dub 10, the junior class will be selling class sweatpants starting tomorrow at lunch in the commons!
SENATORS! Want to help your school win $500 and gain $50 for yourself in the process? All you have to do is participate in the WHAT IF IT WERE YOU HIV POSTER CONTEST. Create an 8.5 X 11 poster that answers the question, what would you do if you were HIV positive? Entry deadline is March 13. Posters will be displayed at the school through March 26. The Springfield Urban League's Health Initiatives Department is challenging students at Springfield, Southeast and Lanphier by offering a $500 prize to the school with the most entries and a $50 award to the student with the most votes. All entries will be submitted into the Central Illinois-wide contest. The top three entries will win an iPod, iTunes gift card and a restaurant gift card. The number one entry will have their poster featured on billboards throughout Illinois. SENATORS - Let's show them what we're workin' with! Congratulations to Sam Haile. Sam was the lucky winner of the $25 from the Environmental Club for turning in an empty bottle or can. Thank you to everyone who participated. Please keep throwing you empty plastic bottles and cans in the recycling bins. Go. Green.
To all Environmental Club members. We need you to help recycle after school today. We are getting behind and it is beginning to pile up. Please come and help recycle. Volunteering to recycle is also a good way to get NHS hours. Everyone is welcome.
JUNIORS: Illinois College in Jacksonville is hosting a college fair on Monday, March 16 from 7-8:30p.m. in the Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center on the IC campus. Over 50 in-state and out-of-state colleges and universities will have representatives there. Pick up a flyer on the counter in Guidance.
Read for a Lifetime book evaluations are due to Mrs. Dahmane by Tuesday, March 10. You must turn these in to Mrs. Dahmane in order to be eligible for the Read for a Lifetime Luncheon on March 20. See Mrs. Dahmane if you have questions.
