Attention Attention Juniors and Seniors! The following schools are scheduled to visit: -
Monday at lunch LLLCC, February 24th SCI at 9 AM, and February 25th University of Missouri, St. Louis at 10:15 AM. Don't forget that passes are not required for lunch visits but you must have a pass from the guidance office up to the day before to attend the college sessions! Calendar and posters are on the Senior bulletin board, located by the Guidance office door, will have date and time the university or college will be in the building. Please ask Mrs. Sharp in the Guidance office for a college pass to attend these sessions!

Do Something will be holding a Jeans for Teens clothing donation ends today. All the jeans are then donated to homeless teens. Please make a contribution to this wonderful cause!

If you are interested in being on the yearbook staff next year you must complete an application now. You can get a yearbook application from Mrs. Devlin in room 112 before school or you can pick one up in the guidance office. Applications are due to Mrs. Devlin tomorrow - no late applications will be accepted.

Create a poster or write an essay that celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the N.A.A.C.P. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded. For further details, see posters in the halls or see Mrs. Eslahi in room 254. Deadline for entry is February 23.

Ready for a great mystery? Join Literature Club at their Open Mic Night! Try to remember the clues and figure out Who Dunnit? There will be lots of food, so come hungry! If you are interested in performing at the Open Mic Night, there is a sign-up sheet in the main office. Only fifteen acts will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Your act can be anything from a poetry reading to a band! Don't forget Open Mic Night on March 10 at 6:00 pm in the Commons!

Are you at least 16 yrs. old and have a 3.0 GPA? Are you interested in serving in the Obama Administration as a Page? For more information about the possibility of participating in this enlightening educational opportunity, and acquire invaluable experience, please go to www. pageprogram.house.gov for specific details.

Hey, Freshmen! Hey, Sophomores! Hey, Juniors! Hey, Seniors! The class of 2012 will be having a Chicken Dinner Friday, February 27 from 4:30 - 7 in the commons. Dinner includes chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and a roll for $7.50. Please turn in your order with payment to Ms. Barkmeier in room 370.

The Springfield Urban League's Health Initiatives division is sponsoring the second annual HIV Poster contest for Central Illinois high school students. The theme this year is "What if it were you?" Winning entries will be awarded an I-pod, an I-Tunes gift card, and a restaurant gift card. The grand prize winner will also have his or her work on billboards throughout the state of Illinois. All submissions must be turned in the Vykye Johnson, 21st Century Site Coordinator by 5pm on March 13th. Please see any 21st Century teacher for more information.

Attention German Club! If you would like to play Capture the Flag against Spanish Club on Wednesday, February 25th, come with a $2 deposit to room 262 on Thursday right after school. Please by quick as the number of players is limited!

Mardi Gras is right around the corner. Are you ready to celebrate? French Club will be selling Mardi Gras grams for $1 all next week in the Commons at lunch. All proceeds benefit the Animal Protective League.

Attention Spanish Club: We have a meeting today after school in the cafeteria. Join us for LINGO and treats! Also, freshmen and sophomores wanting to play capture the flag need to see Sra. Kuhn ASAP.

A good meal & A good deed! You can support SHS cheerleaders by dining at Noodles & Company on Monday, February 23rd from 4 - 9 PM. 10% of the sales go to SHS cheerleading.

The SITE Club will be meeting tomorrow in Ms. Fox's room after school.

10th, 11th, and 12th grade students: Permission slips are now available for the Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, college bus trip. The campus tour will be Thursday, April 2. Pick up your slips in Guidance.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold its next meeting on Monday, February 23. We will be meeting in the annex at 7 PM. FCA will last for one hour. We hope to see you then!

Juniors & Seniors in need of NHS hours can volunteer at the Senior Citizen's Dinner on March 18th in the Commons at 4 PM. Sign up at the NHS board or see Ms. Maloney for questions!

There will be a Cross Country meeting today after school in the commons for all boys who were on the team this past fall. The meeting will only last 3 - 5 minutes.

Be A Senator is selling some really amazing, student designed t-shirts! Congratulations to Jordan Gary and Niko Boeker who were the winners in the t-shirt contest. Now their t-shirt designs are available for $10, extended sizes are a little more. See the table in the commons for an order form or Ms. Greco in room 256. Money must be paid when ordering. We will be selling shirts through February 27th.

The Lady Senator basketball team started off the postseason on the right track last night by beating Lanphier 69 to 51. SHS was led in scoring by Kasi Korza with 16 points and her sister Kelly had 15. Zahna Medley added 12 and Allison Anderson popped in 10. Next up for SHS is the Regional championship tomorrow night against Southeast at SHG. Good job ladies.

There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing soccer this Spring on Tuesday, February 24 at 3:15 PM in room 324. The meeting will last 25 minutes. All prospective players are reminded that they must have athletic permit cards filled out and they must have a current physical on file in order to be eligible to practice. Cards may be picked up in the main office. All prospective players should check the soccer bulletin board outside the main office to be sure their name is listed and to be sure they are eligible to practice. Questions, see Coach in room 324.

The Sophomore and Freshmen Boys Basketball teams both captured City Tournament Titles last evening. The freshmen capped off a great season by defeating Southeast 71 - 57. The Sophomores secured their 15th victory of the season in a thrilling double overtime 72 - 71 victory over SHG.
