An organizational meeting for all students interested in forming a Rally for St. Jude will be held today in Room 150 at 3:15 pm. Activities will be planned for the week of Feb. 2-6 to raise funds to fight childhood cancer. Join this effort to show that Springfield High School students know how to pay it forward.

The yearbook staff will be selling yearbooks during both lunch shifts in the commons today, tomorrow, & Wednesday. We will have a list of who already bought a yearbook at this time too. This is your last chance to pre order a yearbook. The cost is $50.00.

The yearbook staff will have the senior signature page available to seniors during lunch in the commons today, tomorrow, & Wednesday!

SHS is hosting the FIRST faculty city basketball tournament tonight at 6 PM! Come support Juice, Artie, Mr. Carson, Mr. Stapleton, Mrs. Miller, Mr. Neighbors, Mr. Kyes, Mr. Schurman, and Mr. Lawson as they lace up their Jordan's and fight for a championship. Tickets are $3 in advance and $5 at the door. Tickets are on sale at lunch today, and also can be purchased in Ms. Negele or Mr. Stapleton's room. Be there! The schedule is

Remember!! Youth Leadership Academy applications are due today to the Board Office! Be sure to get yours turned in!

If you're looking for NHS hours come volunteer at student council's annual Little Kids Holiday dinner! It will be held in the commons on Wednesday, December 17. Sign up in Mrs. Pence's room, the main office or the NHS board. Hope to see you there!

Spanish Club will be having a holiday fiesta immediately after school in the cafeteria tomorrow. Join us for food, games, music, a piƱata and fun!

French Club Holiday party will be tomorrow after school in room 268. See Mrs. Boltz for details.

Seniors who have not ordered their cap and gown: Jostens will be here next Tuesday from 7;30 am to 8:30 am. This is the last time Jostens will be at school. Those who do not order at this time will have to mail requests to Jostens or visit them in Chatham.

Attention FCA leaders! There will be a meeting today, Monday, during A' lunch in weight room. The meeting will be brief and should be attended if you have A' lunch. If you are unable to attend, please see one of the fellow leaders. FCA leaders, today, A' lunch. in weight room!

Seniors who plan to graduate early should see Mrs. Krekel in the Guidance office on Wednesday for the check-out sheet.

Attention all JSA members and anyone interested in a job in government, 1992 Springfield High Graduate, Elizabeth Zelle, will be speaking in the Auditorium after school Thursday. She is currently serving on a Vice council at the US Embassy in El Salvador. She will be talking about what she does for the State Department and the importance of government service.

The Lady Senator basketball team got out to a quick start in the first quarter and beat Oak Park Fenwick 65 to 57. Freshmen Zahna Medley scored 16 of her 17 points in the first half, junior Kelly Korza contributed 14, and senior Allison Anderson chipped in 11 of her 13 points in the second half. Next up for SHS is the last game until after Christmas, when they travel to Southeast tomorrow night. Good job ladies.

The Senator wrestlers won the Jerseyville Invitational this Saturday by 113 points. The Senators had 9 champions. On Friday night the Senators beat Mascoutah 64- 12 and Wood River 70 - 12. The Senators lost their first match of the season to Collinsville by a score of 38 - 29. The Senators have four wrestlers still undefeated. They are Adam Nudo, Dane Atwood, Ryan Spencer, and Noah Murray.

The JV Scholastic Bowl team split their squad on Saturday to compete at the Petersburg PORTA invite. The B team finished with a record of 4 and 2, and qualified as one of the top 8 teams for the afternoon rounds. The team narrowly missed out on a top four finish, falling to Riverton by only 4 points. The A team had an even better day, going 6 and 2 and finishing in 3rd place out of the 24 teams entered. Freshmen Neil Parker and Johnny Smith were named to the all-tournament team.

The word for this week is myriad (MERE iad). According to Dictionary.com, myriad is a noun meaning "a very great or indefinitely great number of persons or things." It can also be used as an adjective meaning "innumerable, of an indefinitely great number." Thus, it is OK to refer to "the myriad of stars on a summer night" or "the myriad stars that form the Milky Way."
