Morning Announcements for Monday, October 20
Attention all students! Make your voice heard! Are you interested in being the District 186 Student School Board member, or being a part of the Superintendent's Roundtable? Still interested but have not submitted an application? It's not too late! See your principal for more information about how to apply. The deadline has been extended to October 30th.
Attention Attention Do you know that Springfield High School is haunted by a ghost named Rachel? Come hear the true story about Rachel at Do Something's Haunted House on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 here at SHS. Tickets are $3 per person and can be bought at the Commons door. There will be a tour of the eerie boiler rooms where Rachel's cracked tombstone lies! Don't forget the Haunted House, here on October 22!
There will be a Do Something Meeting tomorrow! Come to help plan for our upcoming events! New members are always welcome, so come have fun while volunteering and raising money for the community! Don't forget the Do Something meeting in Ms. Huffman's room is tomorrow.
Do Something is holding a Dodgeball Tournament. We will have team sign up sheets for teams in the Main Office and Mrs. Huff's room. Teams will consist of 7 people. Teams must consist of at least 2 girls and price is $5 per person. Entry forms must be turned in to Ms. Huff by the 10th of November with all money. We will only except the first 40 forms turned in. So hurry and sign up!
German Club is showing the movie "M" tomorrow right after school. If you are interested, please come by room 262 to pick up a parent permission form, fill it out and return it.
Attention all science students who sold butter braids. They will be here Tuesday, October 21. You MUST pick them up after school in the commons. They need to stay frozen. Please make arrangements.
There will be an Environmental Club meeting Monday after school in Ms. Vander Leest's room. Everyone is welcome.
Any Senior who plans to apply to: The University of Illinois, deadline is November 1st. Illinois State University is November 15th.
Reminder to all JSA members: Fall State registration is due today! Please turn it in to Mr Lightfoot in room 330. You need to turn in a permission slip and the registration fee.
Juniors and Seniors: Western Illinois University is holding a Physics and Pre-Engineering Open House on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10:30-3:00. If you are interested in attending or receiving more information see Mrs. Povse in Guidance.
ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!! That would be Junior and Senior Students Check the Senior Senator Bulletin Board...These schools are scheduled to visit our school this week: Today at 10:00 Illinois Wesleyan and at 1:30 Wabash College, Wednesday at 9:00 Illinois College. Don't forget: Passes are not required for lunch visits however, you must have a pass from the guidance office to attend the college sessions. The calendar and the posters are on the Senior bulletin board located outside the Guidance office. Listed are dates and times the University or College will be in the building. Please ask Mrs. Sharp in the guidance office for a college pass to attend these sessions!
The Class of 2010 would like to announce its second annual ping-pong tournament. It's going down this Wednesday at 2:30 in the old gym. Tickets will be on sale in the commons on both lunch shifts for $2 today and tomorrow. Bring your own paddles.

If you answered yes, than you should buy tickets to The Ethiopian Well Benefit Concert on Oct. 26. Hear all the great local bands and rappers, and grab a slice of pizza machine pizza while you're out there. Tickets are 5$ and will be on sale during both lunch shifts. Buy now before they sell out! "Just add water" T shirts will also be on sale for only $15!!
The Cross Country team competed in the CS-8 conference meet at Taylorville. In the Girls' JV race, Madie Alexander finished 1st. The Varsity Girls' finished 2nd in the team standing. Kirby Hale finished 1st overall with a time of 19:08. In the Boys' JV race, Michael Upperman finished 1st place overall. The Varsity Boys' finished 1st in team standing. Brad Walwer finished 1st overall with a time of 16:08.
