Reminder to students and their parents: Tonight from 7-8:00 in the auditorium there will be a college financial planning presentation. Come and learn how you can finance your post secondary goals.

Attention all students! Make your voice heard! Are you interested in being the District 186 Student School Board member, or being a part of the Superintendent's Roundtable? Still interested but have not submitted an application? It's not too late! See your principal for more information about how to apply. The deadline has been extended to October 30th.

Looking for a creative outlet? Want to have your voice heard? Then enter Ready Illinois' High School Challenge! The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is looking for individuals or teams of students to write a 30-second public service announcement? on disaster preparedness. Winning teams will have their announcement aired on TV or radio, a school assembly in their honor, and will win $10,000 for their school. If interested, please see Ms. Fox for details.

French Club will be having a short meeting after school today to plan the year's events

We will be kicking off our "Just Add Water" Ethiopia Well project this Thursday morning at 7:30 in Mr. Lightfoot's room. JSA's goal for the year is to raise $10,000 to build wells in Ethiopia. Come hear from the Fowlers, aid workers in Ethiopia, about the culture and need of the people. We will also be discussing the upcoming benefit concert and awareness week.

Attention Attention Do you know that Springfield High School is haunted by a ghost named Rachel? Come hear the true story about Rachel at Do Something's Haunted House on Wednesday, October 22, from 7 to 8:30 here at SHS. Tickets are $3 per person and can be bought at the Commons door. There will be a tour of the eerie boiler rooms where Rachel's cracked tombstone lies! Don't forget the Haunted House, here on October 22!

There will be a Do Something Meeting on Tuesday, October 21! Come to help plan for our upcoming events! New members are always welcome, so come have fun while volunteering and raising money for the community! Don't forget the Do Something meeting in Ms. Huffman's room on Tuesday October 21.

Do you love to play dodge ball and are really competitive? Sign up for Do Something Dodgeball Tournament here at SHS. There will be tournament games played November 17 to the 21. Hurry and get your team together! Each team should have seven people, but each team must also have at least two girls! The teams are five dollars a person, so start organizing your team and practicing for Do Something Dodgeball tournament November 17 to the 21!

Operation Smile will have a meeting after school tomorrow in room 366. We will be electing officers.

There will be an Environmental Club meeting Thursday after school in Ms. Vander Leest's room. Everyone is welcome.

Attention baseball players not out for a fall sport: There will be a short meeting Thursday after school to give details for the kids' game this Saturday.

Capital Area Career Center Open House and Meet the instructors and view the programs and also, come see the Capital Area School of Practical Nursing Thursday, October 16, 2008 5 pm - 7pm. There will also be a Chili and dessert dinner $5.00.

Attention Class of 2012: If you have not ordered a class t-shirt and would like to do so, please see Ms. Mary Davis in room 363. The cost is $10 and payment is expected at the time of order. The last day to order a t-shirt is Friday.

Attention, Attention - The Freshmen Class is sponsoring a garage sale Saturday, October 18th from 7 AM - 1 PM on Noble Ave. Please feel free to donate items or simply browse for bargains. We need your donations to make this a success. See the flyers in the hallways or contact Ms. Barkmeier in room 370 or Ms. Mary Davis in room 363 for additional information.

The class of 2011 will be selling EXTRA LARGE slices of Pizza Machine pizza for $2 on Thursday. Don' t forget! Pizza, Pizza, Pizza on Thursday, Thursday, Thursday!

Attention Spanish Club members: The Club t-shirts have arrived. Bring your money to your Spanish teacher Thursday or Friday to claim your t-shirt. Short sleeve shirts are $10 and long sleeve shirts are $12.

Best Buddies remember we have our matching party on Friday in the cafeteria!

There will be a HIGH PRIDE meeting tomorrow morning in Coach Reed's room 228 at SHS. That's Thursday morning in Coach Reed's room!

Tickets for Saturday night's Football game against SHG will be on sale Thursday and Friday at SHG only, from 8 AM - 3 PM. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students. Tickets will also be available at the gate.

Attention Girls Soccer players. Anyone wishing to participate in a 2 day, intensive speed conditioning program should see Coach in room 324.

A rhetorical question is one to which no answer is expected, often used to provoke thought or for effect.
