Good morning Springfield High! Today is Thursday, August 25, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Picture Day is Monday, August 29th. Come to the auditorium to get yours taken when we call your section.

Teachers - We will have our student expectations assemblies today and Friday. Please follow the schedule listed below. All students will be dismissed via the PA - please sit with your class in either the auditorium or the commons. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The YMCA is looking for Volunteer Soccer Refs, this is a good service opportunity for students that are interested. If you are interested contact Jennifer Snopko at 217-544-9846 ext. 117 or via email at jsnopko@springfieldymca.org for more information.

Attention SHS! If you would like to participate in our school’s recycling program, please join us for a brief meeting in room 250 right after school today, August 25. We hope to see many people there so we can continue this important task to protect our environment.

Attention Freshman —If you are interested in running for student council or a class officer you will need to pick up a packet of information outside of the main office - that’s on the second floor- during your lunch shift today or tomorrow. All packets will be due back to Ms. Troike in room 258 on Wednesday, August 31st by 2:30 PM.

The US Army will be visiting SHS on Tuesday August 30 during both lunch shifts in the commons. Please stop by their table to ask questions!

Your 2016 Springfield Senators Varsity Football team kicks off its season in 2 short days in Lincoln on Friday at 7pm. The team is looking for a large and very loud student section to make the short trip and cheer the team on to victory.

Attention Springfield High school IN Session showchoir members,crew and combo, our first mandatory showchoir meeting/rehearsal will be Tuesday, August 30th at 6:30pm in the choir room. If there are any SHS students who would like to be apart of the award-winning showchoir combo, please contact the director, Steven L. Robinson at mrinsessiondirector21@gmail.com to express your interest. Hope to see you all there.

The girls swim team is hosting a fundraiser at Cherry Berry this Saturday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Come out for some frozen yogurt and a portion of the proceeds goes to the SHS swim team.

School supplies for sale at lunch this week! The National Honor Society is selling lightly used school supplies at lunch this week at great prices. Notebooks are 25 cents and binders start at $1. All proceeds will go to the Give Hope, Fight Poverty charity. Any questions see Mrs. Taft or Mr. Kramer. Help shop for a great cause.

ATTENTION Seniors and Juniors interested in a parking spot, come sign up today during passing periods, lunch or after school by 3:30 to be entered in the lottery. You must have had good attendance last year and once we’ve announced the winners you will need to provide proof of insurance, proof of registration, and your Drivers License. BE SURE TO FOLLOW the instructions or you will automatically be excluded. The sign up will be today, Thursday and by lunch on Friday. The winners will be posted outside the main office on the display cases Friday by 7th hour.

The boys soccer team open Central State 8 play with a 9-0 victory over Lincoln Tuesday evening. Nate Cheung had 3 goals, Logan Willard 2 goals, Kelby Phillips 1 goal 5 assists to lead the Senators. Alex Dickerson, Jackson Hyde and Maxime Ngoupa also scored for the Senators. Evan Wright and Colin Taylor recorded the shut-out. JV and Sophomore players meet in Mr. Taylor’s room after school. Way to go guys!!!

The boys soccer team advanced to the final of the Metro Cup with a 7-2 victory over Althoff Catholic. Kelby Phillips scored 3 goals and Nate Cheung added 2 goals. Logan Willard and Ryan Kolaz also scored for the Senators.L
