Attention Small Learning Community C Students! If you are planning on graduating in December and have not completed an early grad contract, see Mr. VanDiver in the Guidance Office this week.
Attention Attention Juniors and Seniors! The following schools are scheduled to visit: - Today at 9:00 SIU Carbondale, tomorrow at 9:00 MacMurray, and Wednesday 9:00 U of Champaign. Don't forget that passes are not required for lunch visits but you must have a pass from the guidance office up to the day before to attend the college sessions! Calendar and posters are on the Senior bulletin board, located by the Guidance office door, will have date and time the university or college will be in the building. Please ask Mrs. Sharp in the Guidance office for a college pass to attend these sessions!

The 2008-2009 Yearbook Staff is looking for candid pictures from Seniors for the Senior Collage pages. They can be recent or old photos of you and your fellow classmates. If you would like to submit pictures, please place them in Mrs. Devlin's mailbox by October 1st.
Springfield Idol! You don't have to go to St Louis or Chicago to audition for SHS Idol! We will be crowning the first SHS Idol on October 27th in our very own auditorium. Auditions will be held on September 23rd, 24th, and 25th to determine who will be in the talent show. Auditions will be held after school in the choir room. Please sign up for a ten minute time slot. Only 18 acts will go to the final round on October 27th. You can sing, dance, play an instrument, or do a dramatic reading. Solo's, duets and trios, will be eligible. There will be prizes for First, Second and Third place and a special prize for the "People's Choice". Three celebrity judges from the community will decide the FIRST SHS Idol. Students who are 18 or will turn 18 before November 4th can register to vote Thursday, September 25th in the commons during both A & B lunch. You will need to bring two forms of identification with you such as, your driver's license or state ID, or student ID and proof of residence. Remember, your vote DOES count. Come sign up so you can exercise your right to vote in the 2008 Presidential Election.
Interested in a career in engineering, geology, road or bridge construction, aviation? These are just some of the jobs to be showcased at the Illinois Dept. of Transportation Career Day, Oct. 2. There are still spaces on the bus. Get your permission forms in Guidance and get them back to Mrs. Povse ASAP. A free lunch is provided by IDOT.
Environmental club will meet in the auditorium today after school. Brendan Hughes will be here to speak about the work he has done in reclaiming desert in California and information about the Student Conservation Association. Everyone is welcome!
Be A Senator will be selling Papa John's pizza this Wednesday in the commons for both lunch shifts.
On Saturday the girls golf team finished 4th place in the Rochester invite with a 386 team score. Leading the way was Becca Ramirez with a 90, followed by Andrea Ribelin and Tess Edwards with 94's, while Mackenzie Mcdermott finished with a 108.
The Cross Country Team competed in the Peoria Notre Dame Invite on Saturday at Detweiller Park. The Varsity Girls Team placed 24th out of 42 teams. Christy Rolf was the top placer for SHS. The Girls Fresh/Soph team placed 26th out of 28 teams. Maggie Cornelius was the top placer for SHS. In the Girls' JV race Summer Jensen was the top finisher for SHS. The Varsity Boy's team placed 19th out of the 42 teams. Brad Walwer was the top finisher for SHS. The Boys Fresh/Soph team placed 9th out of 37 teams. Tyler Pence was the top finisher for SHS. In the Boys' JV Race, - William Roberg was the top finisher for SHS.
Boys Soccer invites everyone to Fan Appreciation Day. Our Tuesday game against Lincoln Community High School will have FREE ADMISSION for all. The games are at Lee Field; JV at 5 PM and Varsity at 6:30 PM.
