Superintendent Dr. Milton of Springfield School District 186 is inviting interested high school students to apply to become a member of the Superintendent's roundtable. This will be comprised of 15 high school students, sophomore to senior, who will discuss student issues, curriculum and activities with Dr. Milton and their fellow roundtable members. The Student School Board member will also be invited to be involved with the Roundtable.
The massacre originally scheduled for tonight has been postponed. There will be another date scheduled later. Again, no Massacre tonight!
The first NHS meeting of the year is today after school Wednesday at 3:15 in Mrs. Koen's room 406. All Senior members are required to attend. September hours are not due until Friday, October 3rd.
An important announcement regarding Homecoming: Guests must have a form completed and signed by the guest's principal. The form and ID will need to be turned in to Mrs. Stahly at the door. Guests may not be younger than a freshmen or older than 20. If guest is out of high school have Mrs. Stahly sign the form.
Homecoming tickets will be on sale in the commons at lunch today! Single tickets are $10 couples are $15 in advance, so come to the commons with your money and ID ready! Guest request forms for non-SHS students are available in the main office.
Attention Attention Juniors and Seniors! The following schools are scheduled to visit: - Today at 9:30 is University of Chicago at lunch Army, and Sept 18th 1:30 PM St. Louis University, Sept. 22nd 9:00 SIU Carbondale, Sept. 23rd 9:00 McMurray, and Sept. 24th 9:00 U of Champaign. Don't forget that passes are not required for lunch visits but you must have a pass from the guidance office up to the day before to attend the college sessions! Calendar and posters are on the Senior bulletin board, located by the Guidance office door, will have date and time the university or college will be in the building. Please ask Mrs. Sharp in the Guidance office for a college pass to attend these sessions!
Math and business students: Illinois State University is sponsoring a Career Fair, Monday, Sept. 29 from 3:00-6:00 in the Bone Student Center at ISU. Scholarship opportunities from State Farm and Country Insurance companies will be showcased as well. See Mrs. Povse or the scholarship bulletin board outside room 106 for further information.
The 2008-2009 Yearbook Staff is looking for candid pictures from Seniors for the Senior Collage pages. They can be recent or old photos of you and your fellow classmates. If you would like to submit pictures, please place them in Mrs. Devlin's mailbox by October 1st.
There will be a Chess Club meeting tomorrow after school in Mr. Szabo's room, room 524.
All High Pride members are encouraged to pay for their t-shirt by the end of the week.

Join us after school tomorrow in Mr. Lightfoot's room 330 as we debate one of the hottest issues in the 08 Election... offshore oil drilling. Does it harm the environment? Will it cheapen that gallon of gas for your car? Come Thursday and help us decide!
The Sophomore Class will be selling Pizza Machine pizza slices tomorrow during both lunch shifts for $2 per slice. They will also be selling Pizza Machine pizza at the Homecoming tailgate this Saturday.

Students planning to attend the IDOT Career Day with Mrs. Povse on Oct. 2: the permission forms are due this Thursday, Sept. 18.
Springfield Idol! You don't have to go to St Louis or Chicago to audition for SHS Idol! We will be crowning the first SHS Idol on October 27th in our very own auditorium. Auditions will be held on September 23rd, 24th, and 25th to determine who will be in the talent show. Auditions will be held after school in the choir room. Please sign up for a 10 minute time slot. Only 18 acts will go to the final round on October 27th. You can sing, dance, play an instrument, or do a dramatic reading. Solo's, duets and trios, will be eligible. There will be prizes for First, Second and Third place and a special prize for the "People's Choice". Three celebrity judges from the community will decide the FIRST SHS Idol. The Boys golf team finds itself trailing SH-G by 8 strokes after round 1 of the city tournament last night at Bunn. George Tate shot an even par 36 for the Senators, with Kurt Southworth coming in at 37. Robby Hill fired a 38 while Troy Klunick rounded out the scoring for Springfield with a 39. Today's second round starts at 3:30 at Piper Glen.
Only four strokes separated three teams in last nights Girls golf match at Shambolee Golf Course. Leading the lady senators was Tess Edwards with runner up honors 45, followed by Andrea Ribelin with a 48. Becca Ramirez carded a 51 while Mackenzie McDermott shot a 57. Tonight SHS takes on Glenwood, SHG and Lincoln at Lincoln Elks country club. Good luck lady senators.
