Good morning Springfield High! Today is Thursday, September 8, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Teachers please check the non-compliant list that was sent via email by Nurse Kim. If any of those students are in your class, please send them to room 167 IMMEDIATELY.

The 2016-2017 Capitoline Yearbook is now on sale at $60 a copy; in January, the cost will be $70 a copy.
To be included in the senior portrait section of this year’s yearbook, graduating seniors should schedule an appointment with Grussenmeyer Class Act Photography for his/her sitting. Please contact them at 787-4947, 484 S. Durkin Drive, Springfield, 62704.

Seniors and Juniors who received a parking spot in the lottery“ please be sure to come and redeem your spot by Thursday, September 8, 2016. You will still need to provide your proofs of insurance and registration as well as your Driver’s License and your $75. If you have not done this by Thursday we will allow others to come sign up for the remaining spots and then give them your spot.

ALL STUDENTS: If you need extra credits to make up for failed classes, get a pass to see your Guidance Dean about attending Lawrence Education Center Credit Recovery Classes.

Crush your enemies and demoralize your opponents. If you have ever dreamed of world domination the Historical Game Club is for you. Come play games like Risk, Axis and Allies, Settlers of Cataan, Diplomacy, Star Wars, Walking Dead, and tabletop miniatures. We meet in Room 328 during Lunches “A” and “B” on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. If you love history this is the club for you, everyone is welcome.

It's that time again!! Be A Senator will be selling hot, delicious Papa John's pizza for $2 per slice in the Commons on today during both lunch shifts. Pizza, pizza, pizza, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday! Today is also the first Redemption Day of the school year! Take your SHLOTTO cards to the Commons during your lunch shift and redeem them. Thank you for Being A Senator!

LIMITED math Tutoring is available on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 pm in the cafeteria. Please make sure to sign-in upon arrival.

The following colleges and organizations will be visiting SHS during this week. Please see Mr. Kyes or the guidance office for a pass. Thursday 9/8- Air Force during lunch in the commons.

Juniors and Seniors- The next ACT test date is Oct. 22. The registration deadline is Sept 16- please see Mr. Kyes for details.

All juniors interested in taking the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 19th, should bring $15 to the guidance office to sign up by Friday, September 16th. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Smith or Mr. Barnes.

Hola Spanish Club! If you are in Spanish Club and interested in attending the kick-off party on September 16th, please come to a short informational meeting in room 260 after school on Thursday. Hope to see you there.

Achtung Achtung German Club! If you are a member of German Club and would like to come to the Oktoberfest/Kick-off Party on Friday, September 16, please see Herr Koeppel in room 250 to sign up. Remember you have to be signed up with German Club in order to come to the Kick-off Party.

Students interested playing boys basketball, conditioning and open gyms will start this weekend. You may swing by Coach Crum’s room which is 228 and pick up a schedule that is hanging up outside his room.

The SHS Powder Puff football game will be on Sunday, September 18 at 4:00. Any student player or student coach must have the permission form turned in by September 14. Team T-shirts must be approved by Dr. Leardi or Mr. Connolley. A $2 admission fee will be charged to all spectators on game day. Pick up your permission form in the main office.

The Ministerial Alliance of Springfield invites students in grades 9-12 to participate in the Dr. Martin Luther King Essay Competition. If you are interested in writing an essay, please pick up the information sheet in the guidance office.

Senator Football team will be joining forces with Touchdowns Against Cancer to raise money for St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. The football team will be hosting its 1st Annual "White Out" game where the team will wear white helmets, white jerseys, white pants, and white socks. This years game is September 30th against Lanphier. We are hoping to pack the stadium with a sea of white shirts to help white out cancer and donate to research. There is an online pledge option that people can pledge a dollar amount per touchdown scored over the next 3 weeks, a flat donation, or people can support the cause through purchasing official White Out t-shirts from Student Council or Coach Gully. Student Council will be out during lunch this Friday, next Wednesday, and next Friday selling shirts. Order forms will also be in Coach Gully's room and in the main office. Money for the shirts will be due when you place your order. Orders are only to be turned in to Coach Gully or to Student Council during those 3 lunch dates. Sales for white out shirts will end next Friday. If you have any questions contact Coach Gully.

The Senators Varsity Volleyball Team beat Decatur MacArthur last night in 2 sets, increasing their record to 7 and 3. Come out tonight and support the team as they play against Quincy Notre Dame at 7 in the gym. Hope to see you there!

The High Pride game of the week finds itself in Eisenhower Pool this Saturday, September 10th, as the Lady Senators swimming and diving team hosts the annual SHS Invite. Watch as the mighty Senators compete against many of the area’s top programs. So come out and display that Solon Fever by supporting our lady Senators swimming and diving team! Events begin at 9:00 AM and last throughout the day at Eisenhower Pool. Be there or be square!

In a hard fought game against Quincy Notre Dame the Lady senators volleyball team pulled out a win last night in 2 sets! Come out and support the volleyball next Tuesday!!

The boys golf team swept their quadrangular match at Lincoln Greens last night, beating Glenwood, SHG and St. Theresa. Bryce Ribelin shared medalist honors, coming in with a 3 over par 39. Adler Boatman fired a 40, Zach Richmond a 42, and Jack Zerfas carded a 43.
