Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, September 28, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Healthcare Explorers of Central Illinois is offering a program for high school students interested in learning more about careers in medicine. The program is offered by SIU School of Medicine and Memorial Health System and will meet monthly from October to May. The informational meeting for students and parents is: October 6, 2016 at 6 PM, Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation, M.G. Nelson Family Auditorium, 228 W. Miller St.

¡Atención Spanish Club members! We will be watching the movie ‘Tarzan’ in Spanish after school on Thursday in room 260. All members are welcome. There will also be plenty of food, so come with an appetite. Hope to see you there!

The yearbook students will be passing out pictures and id’s Thursday and Friday during A and B lunches.

Making the grade is Thursday, September 29 during fifth, sixth, and seventh hour. Participating students will receive a pass to report to the commons.

Attention all actors and actresses! If you're interested in auditioning for this year's fall play, "And Then There Were None", please come and pick up an audition packet in the main office. Only one week left to purchase your order of Avanti’s Gondolas for $7 and bread for $3. Just ask a German student, but you can also always ask me if you would like to get tickets. Checks can be made out to „SHS GAPP“. Thank you for supporting our school’s German program. Gondola's are Avanti's famous 16" sweeter bread with salami, ham, American cheese, and lettuce. YUM! Order yours now through Wednesday, October 5. Delivery is Thursday, October 13, during both lunch shifts and until 4 pm. Questions, contact Sabrena Campbell 691-5401.

There will be a G.S.A meeting held in room 150 on Thurday at 3:30.

For those students who have not paid their 1st semester lab fees, they are due by the end of this month, September 30, which is Friday. Please turn these in to Ms. Floyd in the main office. Do NOT come to pay these during your class periods, please pay them quickly during passing period, lunchtime or by 3:30pm after school. For the unpaid fees letters will be mailed out the 3rd of October. Thanks!

For Girls Only”if you are pursuing a college major or career in engineering, you may be interested in attending a Engineering Workshop held in Champaign, Illinois on October 8th. Achtung Achtung German Club! Our first movie night will be this Thursday, September 29 right after school in room 250. Please join us for the movie „Gun-Shy“. The parent-permission form can be found online on the German Club calendar. You have to get your parents’ permission in order to watch this movie. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Hope to see you there.

Juniors & Seniors interested in attending the Capital Area Education/Career Fair at the Orr Building on the IL State Fair Grounds on Wednesday, October 5th should stop by the Guidance Office for a permission slip. Students will leave school at 11:57 pm, after 4th period. You must check in with their assistant principal at the Orr Building. Signed permission slips are due by Friday, September 30th at 3:30 pm, no exceptions. Students will be responsible for making up any work missed due to this absence.

Students ” SHS is the visiting team Friday ” the student section will be the north end of the visitors section (Where the Chatham kids sat last week)

There is a mandatory parent meeting for Scholastic Bowl team members on Thursday at 5:00 pm in the Library. Please call or email Coach Teichman if you have questions.

The boys soccer team remained undefeated in the CS8 with an 8-0 victory over Lanphier. The Senators were led by Kelby Phillips 3 goals and 3 assists, Nate Cheung 2 goals and 2 assists and Logan Willard 2 goals. Marc Jean Pathinuo also scored while Max Thuma, Gray Freer and Junior Solis added assists. Evan Wright and Collin Taylor were in goal for the shut out.
