Good morning Springfield High! Today is Thursday, November 3, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

The Capitoline Yearbook is on sale now for $60; in January, the cost will be $70. If you do not have the full amount now, you can pay 1/2 now and the rest later.
Seniors, get your baby pictures in to Mrs. Eslahi in room 254 before Thanksgiving break. The cost is $10.
Get your portraits taken by Christmas. Call Grussenmeyer Class Act Photography at 787-6688 to set up your sitting. The cost is $18.

Who will be holding the cash when WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS is played? It is DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT TIME! This trophy and cash prize is the envy of all, so start strategizing and forming your teams, and scheming a crazy costume - a cash prize goes to the best team costume as well! The Booster Club’s annual Dodgeball Tournament will be held Thursday, Novemer 10th at 7pm in the SHS gymnasium. (There is no school that Friday) Registration and waiver forms are available on the school website and in the school office. Anyone under 18 must have a waiver signed. Entry is $5 per player, except Freshman are free! May the best team win!

Seniors who are planning to graduate at semester need to see Ms. Greco in Guidance.

This I Believe is a short essay contest for Illinois high school seniors to express their beliefs as they are about to enter the adult world. The ten winning essays are broadcasted on NPR Illinois in the author’s voice, printed in the SJ-R, and read in front of the Rotary Club of Springfield Sunrise where the club presents 10 winners with a $100 scholarship. Essays may be submitted January 2 - January 26. If you are a senior and interested in submitting an essay, please stop by the guidance office for more information.

The 1st quarter acknowledgement will be on Nov. 4th during both lunch shifts. Those students who received no referrals during 1st quarter will get freshly popped popcorn. Lists will be posted throughout the building starting Wed. and teachers will have the lists as well.

The Business Dept and Work Program are having a Shoe Drive. We are collecting gently worn shoes. Please bring any of the following and drop off in the box outside Mr. Kogers room 110. Womens, kids, mens shoes, athletic, casual, dress shoes, cowboy boots and sandals are all acceptable.

Be A Senator will be selling hot, delicious Papa John’s Pizza for $2 per slice in the commons during both lunch shifts today. Pizza, pizza, pizza, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday.

All students interested in joining the wrestling team must have their athletic paperwork, physicals and activity fee turned in before Monday's first practice. Students will not be able to participate without these things being done.

ATTENTION: Varsity football players you need to have your football lockers cleaned out and your locks removed by Thursday afternoon.

Tuesday night in CS8 Conference play the Scholastic Bowl varsity team triumphed over SHG and Southeast High Schools. Victory was narrowly missed in the Glenwood match as the team lost by one question. The junior varsity team fell to SHG and Glenwood but triumphed over Southeast. Next week will be a busy one for the team as they play on Tuesday at Southeast and travel to Jacksonville on Saturday for the Junior Varsity CS8 Tournament. This season is going to be an exciting one! Practice next week on Monday for Varsity only—all juniors and seniors. Practice on Thursday (November 10th) for Junior Varsity only—freshmen and sophomores Call or text Coach Teichman if you have a question.
