Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, January 9, 2017 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., January 17, 8:30am-2 pm, in the LIBRARY. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, and before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Friday, January 13. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the LIBRARY at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

CITY TOURNAMENT SHIRT FORMS ARE READY! Go to the main office, Mr. Kramer’s and Ms. Troike’s room throughout the day, or to the commons at lunch to get your order forms and see the designs for the 2017 City Tournament, shirts will be $30 for a bundle of 1 white, 1 black and 1 red shirt, as well as accessories! You must buy all shirts together. All Forms must be turned in to room 326 or 258 today, January 9th, NO EXCEPTIONS! #SolonFevur

Before break, the 1st hour foreign language students received a free drink/slushy coupon from Sonic for being on time to class. So make sure you are on time every day because your class may be next!

The class of 2020 will be selling Chick-fil-A this Thursday! Yes, that's right, this Thursday! Each sandwich will be $5 and will be sold on both A and B lunch shifts. So come and get your delicious Chick-fil-A sandwiches!

The following colleges will be visiting SHS this week: Thursday: 1. Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology during both lunch shifts. 2. Vincennes University during 5th Hour. SENIORS- Many college scholarships are NOW available. Please see Mr. Kyes for details. Don’t miss out on FREE money for college!!

Be A Senator will be selling hot, delicious Papa John's pizza for $2 per large slice on Thursday in the commons during both lunch shifts. Pizza, pizza, pizza, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday!

Hey Class of 2020- yes, that’s you freshmen! T-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants are ready… just for you! Order forms and money for your freshmen class spirit wear are due to Mrs. Taft in room 356 by January 11. If you need a form, you can get them from room 356.

Clubs, Groups and Organizations’ pictures will be taken on January 12. We will also have, Senior Photos for the Yearbook on Thursday: Boys, bring or wear a dress shirt “ Girls, we will have drapes available, this is for those seniors that have NOT had their photos taken already. Bring $18 sitting fee and report to the auditorium stage. You will be called down when it’s your turn.

Official Practice for the boys track and field team not involved in a winter sport will begin on Monday January 30th. Please see Coach Cotner with any questions.

Auditions for the spring musical, Ragtime, will be held on Monday, January 23rd in the auditorium beginning at 3:30pm with callbacks beginning at 8:00pm. You must sign up for a time slot online at shsmusical.wordpress.com. Also, you may pick up audition music online or in the choir room beginning today! Finally, please mark your calendars for the mandatory cast and parent meeting on January 26th in the auditorium beginning at 7:00pm.

There will be a Girl’s Track and Field meeting on Thurs., Jan. 12th, everyone not currently participating in a extra-curricular activity should be at this meeting. If you are unable to attend see coach Bunch, the meeting will be in room 326 after school. Remember meeting Thurs. Jan. 12th after school in room 326.

Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl teams that traveled to Macomb on Saturday. The team of Geoff Datz, Jack Sandstrom, Sarah Yepsen, Jack Allen and Aidan Fein received 2nd place in the Consolation pool. The team of Ben Norris, Drew Stanley, Drew Borland, Miles Wilson, Miles Ralph, Will Yepsen and Amy Thomas received 3rd place in the Consolation pool. Drew Borland and Aidan Fein were named to the All Tournament team. Practice will be Monday and Thursday this week until 4:30.

The Lady Senator basketball team broke out of a first half slump and beat Lincoln 52 to 33. Leading SHS was Maya Fetter with 11 points and Montshianna Pulliam scored her 1000th point with a first half FT. Next up for SHS is a home game on Thursday against Eisenhower.
