Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, January 23, 2017 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Freshman interested in filling in for our vacant Vice President position need to see Mr. Kramer in room 326 by next Wednesday. All interested students must pick up an application, complete the application, and return it to Mr. Kramer by Friday January 20th. Elections will be held during lunch on Monday January 23rd.

St. Louis College of Pharmacy is hosting a “Meet and Greet” on Wednesday January 25 from 6:30-8:00 at the Crown Plaza in Springfield. Please see Mr. Kyes for more details.

Valentine’s Day will be here soon and you will have an opportunity to buy that someone special a flower. Valentine Flowers will be on sale during both lunch shifts in the commons beginning next week. The cost is $1 per flower. Look for the table and stop to buy some flowers.

Auditions for the spring musical, Ragtime, will be held today, January 23rd in the auditorium beginning at 3:30pm with callbacks beginning at 8:00pm. You must sign up for a time slot online at shsmusical.wordpress.com. Also, you may pick up audition music online or in the choir room beginning today! Finally, please mark your calendars for the mandatory cast and parent meeting on January 26th in the auditorium beginning at 7:00pm.

Any freshman or sophomore interested in taking the PSAT 10 on Tuesday, February 28, should bring $15 to the guidance office to sign up by Thursday, January 26. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Smith or Mr. Barnes.

Are you interested in possibly earning 2 college credits through Lincoln Land Community College? LLCC is offering a college success skills workshop every Tuesday evening from February 6 - May 11 at the Boys and Girls Club on South 15th Street. Pick up a flyer in the guidance office if you want to sign up.

There will be Scholastic Bowl practice on Thursday only this week.

The Boys Swimming and Diving Senators took on Chicago on Saturday at the St. Charles North Invitational and WON with an amazing TEAM EFFORT. OUR CITY MEET IS TOMORROW NIGHT AT EISENHOWER POOL! It’s Senior night! Meet starts at 7PM!

Students and Teachers…do you know someone who you think deserves a Be A Senator Shout-out for being ESPECTFUL, being RESPONSIBLE, SHOWING GOOD CITIZENSHIP, being CARING, showing SELF-DISCIPLINE, being COOPERATIVE, demonstrating PERSEVERANCE, or being COURAGEOUS? Fill out a nomination form for a Be A Senator Shout-out. Nominations can be found in all offices, on the website and on the Be a Senator table in front of the Cafeteria.
