Good morning Springfield High! Today is Thursday, February 9, 2017 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Valentine’s Day will be here soon, you still have an opportunity to buy that someone special a flower. Valentine Flowers will be on sale during both lunch shifts in the commons until next week. The cost is $1 per flower. Stop to buy some flowers.

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Muhammad Ali” is the theme of this year’s African American History Month of celebrations, which will be held February 24th in the auditorium. Students, see the essay contest and poster contest details posted in the halls. The three top winners get prizes. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, first period classes can participate in the “African American History Trivia Contest.” Give your answers to Ms. Moseley in room 364. The class that wins gets a class party.

The 3rd quarter acknowledgement will be held on Thursday, 3/22 during both lunch shifts. Any student with NO TARDIES (including warnings), NO REFERRALS, and NO UNEXCUSED ABSENCES from January 4th -March 3rd will receive a hotdog and a bag of chips in the COMMONS; there will be a limited number of veggie dogs for those who do not eat meat. Lists will be posted on Wednesday, 3/15 outside of the Guidance Office, in the Cafeteria, and in the Commons. So BE ON TIME, BEHAVE, & BE HERE EVERY DAY. Questions, see Ms Greco or Mrs Mitchell.

Attention sophomores: Jostens will be here Tuesday, February 14th during both lunches and Wednesday, February 15th from 7:30 am until 12:30 pm for ring orders. Please make sure you have your order form and the $60 deposit. Thanks

Hey! Listen up! Sadie Hawkins dance is coming up on February 18th so girls start asking someone to be your date. Tickets will be 10$ for everyone. Dress wear will be semi formal which means no denim, tennis shoes or hats, no matter how stylish your fedora is. All are welcome singles and couples. Order your tickets soon!

If you are interested in attending CACC-The Capital Area Career Center, their Open House is today, Thu, Feb. 9, 5-7 pm

There will be a mandatory meeting for any girl interested in playing softball this year, today, February 9th, in room 116 directly after school. See Coach Koger for questions.

Hey, Class of 2019! SkyZone will be open just for us on Feb. 27, from 6-7pm. Even though they would normally be closed, SkyZone has opened their doors for our fundraiser. Tickets are $16 for one hour of bounce off the walls fun. (SkySocks included) To purchase tickets, talk to Zaire, Raj, Jack, Louie or visit Ms. Moseley in room 368 or Mrs. Hopper in room 112. A great turnout means a greater prom for us, see you there!

There will be scholastic bowl practice on Friday until 4:30, Good Luck to Jack Sandstrom, Jack Allen, Blake Pettys, Aidan Fein and Drew Borland as they travel to the University of Illinois on Saturday to compete at NAQT State. We will leave SHS at 7am.

Congratulations to the following wrestlers for qualifying for the sectional tournament being held this weekend in Mascoutah, Malachi Jackson, Daniel Stewart, Jacquez Stewart, Brayton Lynch, Peyton West and Matt Thoele. Jacquez, Brayton and Peyton were Regional Champions.
