 Good morning Springfield High! Today is Friday, April 21, 2017 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Seniors who are planning to attend Lincoln Land Community College in the fall- there is a field trip planned for you to take your placement tests, complete the new student orientation, and meet with an academic advisor. The field trip is Thursday April 27. Please see Mr. Kyes for a permission slip and details.

Juniors- we will be taking a field trip to Western Illinois University on Tuesday, April 25. Please see Mr. Kyes for a field trip permission form. Seating is limited, so first come first serve

Do you want a chance to win Ice Cream for a year? The class of 2019 will be starting their annual Baskin Robbins fundraiser. To have a chance to win, enter your name in the drawing buy buying a $1 ticket. To purchase or if you have any questions, talk to any class officer, Ms. Moseley in room 368 or Ms. Hopper in 112.

Students - if you need a tux or formal wear for Prom, pick up a coupon card in the main office for Savvy Formal Wear.  It’s a $50 discount if you use the coupon.

Guest forms for Prom are available in the guidance office. Please be sure to have them properly filled out and signed and bring them with you along with your ID’s. Guests are required to show ID at the door as well. No exceptions.

Mission India t-shirts are in!! Pick up your order today in the commons during either lunch shift! Thanks for supporting a great cause and see Rekha or Mr. Kyes with any questions.

SHS cheerleading tryouts begin this week! A review clinic will be held for all classes on Friday, April 21st. Tryouts will be hosted on Saturday, April 22ndstarting at 9am. Tryout forms can be found on the district 186 SHS cheer webpage. We look forward to seeing you there! 

Showchoir informational meeting and auditions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday April 26th-27th in the Schnirring Auditorium starting at 6pm. Go, Glow and help the house Grow . . .the Ronald McDonald House Teen Council is sponsoring a 5K run/walk on Friday, May 5th at Erin’s Pavilion at Southwind Park.  You can register at: rmhc-centralillinois.org.  You can pay the $20 registration fee online or you can sign up with Anneliese Paton and Jocelyn Garcia.  See her with questions or for details.  The entry fee includes a T-Shirt and goody bag.

Students and Staff - If you’d like to purchase a Senator baseball shirt or sweatshirt, the order form is in the main office or you can email Mrs. Alderman at salderm@mac.com . Get a new shirt and support our baseball team!

"It's spring season, and High Pride doesn't stop! This weeks High Pride game of the week is Friday, April 21st, when the SHS tennis team compete at Washington Park from right after school into the night! Next week, the SHS baseball team squares up with the "school down the street" for a 2 game city series! That's 4/21 Tennis, then 4/25 and 4/26 baseball!"

Wednesday and Thursday will be court voting for prom. Pick up and turn in a ballot on A & B lunch in the commons to nominate any 8 senior boys and any 8 senior girls. Only seniors can vote and be nominated. Seniors who graduated early and seniors who were on Homecoming court are able to be nominated also.

The Lady Senator softball team picked up their third conference win in arow last night beating Eisenhower 16-2. Kira Brown, Ashley Robinson, EliseCaton and Lauren Cozadd all had multiple hits to lead the way. Maddie Cleary struck out 8 girls and picked up the win. Great job, ladies!

Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors if you are interested in running for student government next year packets will be available starting today through Tuesday outside of the main office during both lunch shifts.  Student government includes class officer and student council representative positions.  Students may run for both a class office position and for student council.  Elections will be held on Thursday, April 27th.  In order to be eligible to run for a position you must have your completed package turned in to Ms. Troike in room 258 by 3:30 pm on Wednesday, April 26th. 

Achtung Achtung German Club! Our next movie night will be on Tuesday, April 25. We will be showing the German movie „The Edukators“ in room 250. Please get your parents’ permission prior to watching this movie. More information can be found on the German Club calendar online. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Hope to see you there.
