The Public Information Sessions for Springfield Area high school students interested in applying for the Sister Cities Association of Springfield (SCAS) student exchange in Ashikaga, Japan will be Monday, February 12. Each session will be at 7:00 PM in the Board Room of the Springfield District 186 Administrative Center, 1900 West Monroe Street, Springfield, IL 62704 (next to Grant Middle School, across from Fairhills Mall).
Do you know any kids ages 4-14 that love to dance?! Tell them about the Scarlet Line Dance Camp on Saturday February 3rd. The cost is $35 and they will receive a t-shirt and perform at a Varsity game that night! They can find the camp form on the Scarlet Line Facebook page or the SHS website. All camp forms and fees are due by Friday. Don't forget to come cheer on the kids and our basketball team as they play against Decatur Eisenhower.
Valentine flowers will be sold before school and during both lunch shifts in the commons. If you want to order a flower to be delivered to that someone special be sure to buy one at the low cost of $1.00 per carnation. The flower will be delivered to students on Valentines Day here at school.
Girls city basketball is this week at home!! Saturday at 6:30 against SHG (Country club)!! Come out and be as loud as we were for boys!

Any student interested in playing lacrosse this Spring for the Capital City lacrosse club run through the Springfield Park District, there will be a meeting at Scheels on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in their upstairs conference room. The youth program which covers players U9 through U15 (8th grade) will be meeting from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the high school aged players will be meeting from 7:15 PM to 8:00 PM. Youth and HS will be playing against teams within the Central Illinois Lacrosse league (CiLax). CiLax teams are Washington; Bloomington; Peoria Norte Dame; Belleville; Decatur; Morton; and Springfield. At the HS level we will may also play against teams from other areas of Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Regular season games, approximately 10-12 games, will begin in mid March and the season ends by May 24th. At the HS level the top seed team from Central Illinois will move on to State at Lewis University representing CiLax. Last season our JV team won the division and went State.

Attention juniors & seniors: February is filling up with college visits. Presentations will be held during A and B lunches or on Wednesdays after school. You will not need passes to attend, but should sign up outside the post secondary office so representatives know how many students to expect. Please remember to sign up outside the post secondary office. In February we will have presentations from Lincoln College, Truman State, Western, Illinois Wesleyan, Missouri State, University of Missouri at St. Louis (UMSL). Any questions, see Mrs. Lauer.
The Lady Senator basketball team came from behind and beat Lanphier 59 to 46. SHS was led in scoring with Ozzy Erewele with 15 points, Ashley Robinson chipped in 13 and Nicole Swehla added 11. Next up for SHS is the City Tournament Championship game on Saturday night starting at 6:30 against SHG.
Wrestling will be at home tomorrow night against Chatham and U-high at 6:00 pm.
Before the girls city basketball championship game go out to Eisenhower Pool and watch the boys compete against Edwardsville.
There will a softball open gym this Sunday at 1:00 pm at SHS for any interested girl.
