Tomorrow is a big day - 9th, 10th, and 11th grade will test! Students should bring a calculator, pencils (no mechanical), and picture ID. Get a good night's sleep and eat breakfast. Be at school on time and ready to go. Your testing room roster is posted near the classroom door where you will test. Remember - 9th grade third floor, 10th grade second floor, 11th grade first floor.
Anyone interested in playing volleyball next school year, there will be a preliminary meeting Wednesday at 2:30 pm in the cafeteria.
Tutoring is cancelled for tomorrow.

Attention seniors: If you plan on attending Lincoln Land Community College in the fall and want to attend their Regular Prep Day on April 24th please see Mrs. Lauer this week! The event is for students who have already applied to LLCC. There, students will attend a new student orientation, take placement tests (if necessary), schedule a future appointment with an academic advisor, tour the campus, etc. Please see Mrs. Lauer in the post secondary office if you’re interested in attending!
Juniors or Seniors: If you are interested in attending any of the military academies, then you want to attend Service Academy Night, held Tuesday, April 24th at 7:00 pm at the Springfield Air National Guard, 183rd Wing, 3101 J. The SHS girls track and field team won the Thomas McBride Invitational this weekend. Top finishers for SHS were: Aly White 4th in high jump; Jackie Clem 3rd in pole vault; Rachel Shelly 5th in pole vault; Sarah Byrd 2nd in shot put; Blessen Pratt 4th in shot put; Sydney King 3rd in discus; Hannah Burnes 2nd in triple jump, 1st in the 100m hurdles; Gabby Wood 3rd in the 3200, 4th in the 1600; Lauren Ferguson 2nd in the 100m hurdles, 1st in the 300m hurdles; Ozzy Erewele 1st in the 100m, 1st in the 200m; Talaya Warfield 5th in the 400; Ruth Edwards 5th in the 1600. The 4x800 team of Ella Kurmann, Lucy Souva, Ruth Edwards and Abby Norris finished 3rd. The 4x100 team of Hannah Burnes, Lauren Ferguson, Ta’Mya Dumas and Ozzy Erewele finished 1st. Great job girls.
The SHS Baseball Team managed to squeeze in 4 games over the break, losing twice to Peoria Notre Dame and winning twice over Decatur Eisenhower. Highlights for the week included a 5 inning no hitter by Isaac Becker against Eisenhower when he struck out 11 and walked 3. Leading hitters were Jacks Hyde and Lucas Rockford who had 6 hits apiece to go along with 2 home runs by Will Reiser. Next up is Rochester this week once the snow melts.
Do you have what it takes to be a SHS cheerleader? Tryout clinics for the 2018-2019 SHS cheerleading teams will be held Tuesday, April 10th through Thursday, April 12th from 5:00-7:30 pm in the gym. Tryouts will take place on Saturday, April 14th, beginning at 12:00 pm. All interested candidates are required to be present on tryout day. If you are motivated, dedicated and ready to represent our school with pride, then we want you! Please contact Coach Bryant with any questions.
The SHS softball team went 2-0 over Spring Break with 2 conference wins over Decatur Eisenhower. Maddie Cleary and Kira Brown notched the pitching wins with Maddie striking out a career high 13 batters. Kira led the way going 7-8 at the plate. Kenzi Devlin, Alexis Woolen, Ashia Williams, Claire Bess and Grace Vespa also contributed with big hits. Keep it up ladies!
