Good morning Springfield High! Today is Friday, April 20, 2018.

There will be no change given after 11:30 pm today or Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Jostens will be here May 1st during both lunch shifts in the Commons to deliver class rings.

Do you need help with tutoring in your AP classes? Then you can get help in the After-School Tutoring Program in Room 160 on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 PM.

Juniors or Seniors: If you are interested in attending any of the military academies, then you want to attend Service Academy Night, held Tuesday, April 24th at 7:00 pm at the Springfield Air National Guard, 183rd Wing, 3101 J. David Jones Parkway. If you plan to attend, you will need to RSVP via email, by April 20th, to Mike Gilmore. His email address is michael.gilmore@mail.house.gov

Attention Juniors and Seniors, Prom Guest forms are available in the guidance office. Make sure you and your guest bring it with you to the prom along with your photo ID”S. 

Prom is almost here! Take a walk through our Enchanted Forres Prom at the Bank of Springfield Center on April 28th! Please bring your student ID to the venue. Tickets will be sold until April 27th in the Commons. Couples are $35 and singles are $25. Senior court voting will take place today. Hope to see you there!

Somebody's eyes are watching to see if you will come to Footloose this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Come see Rusty, Urleen, Wendy Jo, and Ariel dance the night away! 

It's Friday... you gotta cut loose, Footlose, kick off your Sunday shoes...  If you don't already have your tickets, dance your way to the office!

Springfield High School proudly presents Footloose the Musical today and tomorrow at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm in Springfield High Schools Schnirring Auditorium. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets will be available at the door and in the main office until 10:30 am today. 

Extra, extra, read all about it!! The newspaper class is accepting applications for next year. If you are interested in writing, doing interviews, taking pictures and laying out, pick up your application from Ms Negele  in room 362. They must be returned by April 25th. You cannot be a part of the newspaper family without applying and being accepted.

The SHS Photo Video Club is looking for any male actor willing to play the lead roll in an upcoming short film. The character is a rough and dirty yet very friendly Homeless man.  Actors must also know how to portray emotion with little dialogue.  A few extras are also needed. Interested? Please sign up on the sheet posted outside the main office and come to one of the casting calls held on April 25th and 26th right after school in Mrs. Taft’s room 356. 

Are you ready for peach fuzz? Introducing the first annual peach fuzz, a guys vs. guys volleyball tournament in the gym on Friday, May 11th. Get your team of 6 and sign up for $18 per team. Safety forms can be found in the main office and shirt orders are coming soon. Girls, be there to root on your guys. See you there!

Summer school registration is June 15th from 7:30 - 5:30 at SHS.  Registration forms are available in the guidance office.

Anyone interested in being a manager for the football team next season needs to see Coach Gully or Mrs. Gregory for more information.

Any student that is currently not in choir but would like to audition for next year, those try outs will be NEXT Tuesday, April 24th, after school in Mrs. Pinter’s room.  

Any choir student wanting to attend the Blue Man trip needs to turn in their form and money ASAP.

Atención Spanish Club! We will be watching the movie ‘Up’ in Spanish after school on Tuesday, April 24th in room 260. All members are welcome. There will also be plenty of food, so come with an appetite.  Hope to see you there!

POMS - If you are interested in trying out for the POMS Squad there will be an information student/parent meeting on Monday, April 23rd at 5:30 pm in the Commons.  There will be information available regarding POMS at this meeting.

For Junior Students-Are you interested in becoming a teacher? UIS is offering a Dual Credit teacher education class for Senior year. For more information, sign up in the Guidance Office or see Mr. Williams ASAP. Sign-ups are on a first-come-first-seved basis.

The Lady Senator softball team picked up wins 9 and 10 last night against Jacksonville. Maggie Beauman and Kira Brown each had home runs! Elise Caton, Maddie Cleary, Claire Bess and Jaden Long all had big RBI's. Keep it going ladies!

The SHS Baseball Team took care of biz for a second night in a row by defeating MacArthur by a score of 13 to 2. Jacks Hyde paced the offense with 2 hits, while Ben Rempfer, Adam Passmore, and Will Reiser each added 2 RBI’s apiece. Reiser got the win with a scoreless inning of relief while Ben Hartl started on the bump and threw 2 and 2/3 innings allowing only one unearned run, while striking out four and walking one. Next up is a Saturday doubleheader against East Peoria at their place. 

The girls varsity soccer team defeated Pleasant Plains 1-0 last night. Sarah Wagner scored on an assist by Maria Jorquera and Kalynn Clearwater recorded the shutout.

INSession Show Choir Auditions are open to all SHS students and incoming freshmen.  Auditions dates will be Wednesday, May 23rd from 3:30pm – 8:30pm; Thursday, May from 5:30pm - 8pm
in the commons area (please enter through commons area entrance).  Everyone will need to go through a vocal and dance audition .  We are looking for singers, dancers and actors of all kind. We are looking for strong singers and/or dancers; we are also looking for reliable, responsible and respectful members. This is drama/stress-free group where you can be yourself.
