Good morning Springfield High! Today is Friday, November 9, 2018

This is a friendly reminder to all students that coats, backpacks and blankets are not allowed in classrooms.  Those items must be left in lockers, cars or at home.  The weather is changing and it’s a good idea to dress in layers or bring a sweatshirt.

Picture retake is November 19th.

Order your 2018-2019 Capitoline Yearbook now at $60 a copy.  Bring your check, money order or cash to room 254.

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!!  Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tuesday., November 13th, 8:30 am-2:00 pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, and before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Thursday, November 8th. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES!  Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

SAVE THE DATE! On December 1st from 6-11pm Sangamon CEO is hosting a Haunted Holiday Village at the State Fairgrounds. Included will be a haunted trail, cookies, games, an appearance by Santa, and more! Come if you dare, tickets will be sold for $10 at the at upcoming lunch shifts

Seniors, to be included in this year's yearbook, you must turn in your baby pictures in room 254 and take your senior portraits by winter break.  Call 787-6688 to set up a time to take your senior portrait.

All cross country athletes must turn in their equipment this week to Coach Devlin and pick up a banquet form.

We are having a City T-Shirt Contest that is open to all SHS students.  The requirements are as follows, submit your drawing to the box in the main office by Wednesday, November 21st. The winning submission will receive a $50 gift card.  A few requirements:
All four schools need to be equally included on the shirt; The design has to include “City Tournament” and “2019”; The design needs to work in either all black or all white to be printed on the shirt; We can only print on one side of the shirt.

If you have not yet picked up the football playoffs shirts you ordered, please do so as soon as possible. You already paid for the stuff, so you might as well pick it up from room 362. 

The yearbook staff will be passing out student i.d. pictures today in the commons during both lunch shifts.

Want to be part of a group who provides school supplies to students in need? Pen in a Box will have its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, November 14th after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room, 366. This is a great way to volunteer without a huge time commitment. Your participation will help make the project a success.

Hey Senators, guess what Ms. Troike’s classes are doing?  We are raising funds for the Wounded Warriors.  Let me tell you a little bit about Wounded Warriors.  The Wounded Warriors Project is to benefit military personnel that have lost their lives or limbs in the battle for your freedom.  Our goal at Springfield High is to raise $500.00. So please go in your pockets and donate as much as you can.  Thanks you for all you do senators and see you on Wednesday during both lunch shifts near the snack cart.

Looking for something different to do?Make plans to see the SHS fall play called, “Ask Any Girl.” It’s a cool and kitschy retro stage production set in the 1950s. You have only three opportunities to see it, though! Showtimes are:
Friday, Nov 16, at 7pm; 
Sat, Nov 17, at 7pm; 
Sun, Nov I8, at 2pm. 
Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for students and senior citizens, and $8 for adults.

Do you like to build and paint? Be a part of something creative this weekend! Help the fall play cast and crew in the auditorium tomorrow from 1:00-4:00. Parents are encouraged to help, also.

Anyone interested in being a part of stage crew for the fall play should sign-up outside of Mrs. Eaton’s room or see Steven Ingebrigtsen or Liam Flynn.
