Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, November 21, 2018

This is a friendly reminder to all students that coats, backpacks and blankets are not allowed in classrooms.  Those items must be left in lockers, cars or at home.  The weather is changing and it’s a good idea to dress in layers or bring a sweatshirt.

SAVE THE DATE! On December 1st from 6-11pm Sangamon CEO is hosting a Holiday Village at the state fairgrounds. This will include games, cookies, an appearance from Santa, a spooky haunted trail and so much more! It is fun for everyone! Tickets will be sold at both lunch shifts in the commons for $10. 

We are having a City T-Shirt Contest that is open to all SHS students.  The requirements are as follows, submit your drawing to the box in the main office by end of day today. The winning submission will receive a $50 gift card.  A few requirements:  All four schools need to be equally included on the shirt; The design has to include “City Tournament” and “2019”; The design needs to work in either all black or all white to be printed on the shirt; We can only print on one side of the shirt.

Are you the fastest boy or girl in the school? Come to SHS boy’s and girl’s track open workouts and prove it!  Each week we will have a timed workout where you can prove that you are the fastest in the school. These workouts are open to all athletes of all abilities that are not involved in a winter sport.  Please pick up a sign up sheet from Coach Cotner and make sure you turn it in on the first day of workouts.  Workouts will begin on Monday November 26th!

The Capitoline Yearbook is on sale now at $60 a copy.  Bring your check, money order or cash to room 254.  In January, the cost is $70 a copy.

Seniors - Baby pics should be turned in by winter break, and senior portraits should be done by winter break.  Seniors, Grussenmeyer will be at SHS on December 5th and 12th from 2:30-5:00 to take senior portraits or you can call Grussenmeyer Photography at 787-6688 to set up a time to take senior portraits. 

Attention SHS! German Club is currently selling German Advent calendars filled with German chocolate for $4 each. If you would like one or more, please talk to a friend who is in German Club or come to room 250. Thank you for supporting German Club.

Attention Freshman Class of 2022, we have order forms for t-shirts and hoodies going around. But we have to hurry, order forms and payment are due back by today.  If you want a form, see a class officer, or Ms. Brown in the Attendance Office, room 108 ASAP. 

There will be a brief meeting in room 124 right after school today in Coach Gully’s room (124) for all players interested in playing football next year. The meeting should last 5-10 minutes. 

If you are interested in being a Senate Page through the work program you can pick up an application from Mrs. Devlin in room 121 or in the guidance office on the counter. There will be applications posted outside Mrs. Devlin's office as well. Applications will be due to Mrs. Devlin by December 10th.

The Legacy theater is looking for volunteers to help with their Polar Express pajama party.  Stop by Mrs. Eaton’s room for more details.

Varsity Scholastic Bowl in undefeated so far in conference play. Last night was another Senator Sweep of all 3 matches with Rochester, Jacksonville and Lanphier. The Junior Varsity ended conference play last night sweeping all 3 matches as well. The Junior Varsity ends this CS8 Season 17 and 1. December 1, the JV heads to Athens for a Fresh/Soph Tournament. December 8, the Varsity heads to MacArthur for the CS8 Tournament.  There will be practice on Tuesday after school. 

Wounded Warrior donations will be taken today during lunch.  Thanks for all your donations.
