Attention sophomores and juniors. The Capitol Area Career Center will be hosting their annual CACC presentation on Thursday during 2nd hour in the auditorium. The presentation is open to any interested sophomore and junior student. The presenter will also be available in the commons during both lunch shifts for Q&A. Remember, you must have good attendance and be on track for graduation to sign up for CACC. Any questions, see Mrs. Lauer or Mr. Kyes in guidance!
If you are thinking about signing up for CACC next year, consider going to the CACC Open House on January 24th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Meet teachers, tour the building and learn about the different programs available for juniors and seniors. Remember, you must have good attendance and be on track for graduation to sign up for CACC. The CACC building is located at 2201 Toronto Road, Springfield, IL.
Tutoring officially begins today. It will be available Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3:30-4:30 pm after school in the Room 160. Please make sure to sign-in and out upon arrival and when leaving.
The Class of 22 t-shirts and hoodies are in, please stop by room 108 before or after school to receive your order!
The sophomore class is selling SHS apparel. You can get an order form from a class officer, Sophie Gebhart, David Jiang, Sunni Rogers, Alfred Hoffman or Mrs. Devlin outside room 121. Forms are due to Mrs. Devlin by January 18.

If you took your senior portrait through Grussenmeyer Photography, you can add a senior quote—be sure to cite your source—and a list of activities you've participated in here at SHS. Bring your quote and list of activities to room 254.
Yearbooks are still on sale at $70 a copy, pay for these in room 254.
Groups, Clubs and Organizations will get their pictures taken on January 29 in the auditorium. If you have a new group, club or organization, please let me—Mrs. Eslahi—know, so that I can add them to the picture schedule.
Art club will be meeting today and Thursday in Room 233 until 4:30. Be prepared to paint.
Attention actors! The SHS Photo Video Club is looking for prospective actors to act in two upcoming short Films. For the first film, we need one main character, a sketchy punk rock male with a soft heart for rubber duckies, as well as two confused student roles; one guy and one girl. We are also looking for around 5 extras as well. For the second, we need a crazy, time-traveling guy, a dinosaur, two cowboys, and someone to act as president Lincoln and Neil Armstrong. Around 5 extras are also needed. Casting calls will be held in room 233 right after school Thursday January 10th and Friday the 11th. If you are interested in any of the roles make sure to sign up on the casting call sheet in the main office on the counter! If you have any questions, talk to Dayton Emery.
Congratulations to the boys basketball team who won a couple of huge games this weekend. On Friday, the team beat Decatur Eisenhower by 2 points in overtime 76 to 74. Zaire Harris scored 34 points while Bennie Slater added 23 points and 15 rebounds. On Saturday, the boys beat Quincy in a thriller 42 to 40. Big man on campus Nate Borders provided the spark to start the second half with a three point basket and a layup to give the team a 12 point lead that they never surrendered. Up next, the team will be at Jacksonville on Tuesday night.
The swim team finished 3rd at the Peoria Manual Relays on Saturday. Michael Patton and Alex Rivera had the Senators only win as they won the 200 yard Butterfly. Patton, Rivera, Jerry Freetly and Joshua Morton finished 2nd in the 200 Medley and 3rd in the 400 yard freestyle. Freetly and Lleyton Power took 3rd in the 100 Freestyle and Power, Dae Chon Pippin and Tanner Rivera got 5th in the 200 Freestyle. Great job guys.
Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl team! Molly Harms and Aidan Fein were named to the All Tournament Team at the Macomb Rotary Tournament. Two teams competed. Jack Allen, Aidan Fein, Drew Borland, Maggie Sturm and Jack Casey went 7 and 1 for the day, coming in 1st place. Molly Harms, Jason Frazier, Miles Ralph, Jacob Allen and Miles Wilson went 6 and 2 for the day and came in 7th.
Any girl interested in playing soccer should attend an informational meeting in room 404 after school Tuesday, January 8th.
