Good morning Springfield High! Today is Tuesday, February 5, 2019

Attention sophomores: Jostens will be at SHS tomorrow during first period for a presentation for ordering class rings. All sophomore students should report to first hour for attendance, then move to the auditorium for the presentation. Jostens will be back the following week on February 12th and 13th to place orders during A and B lunch. Any questions, see Mrs. Lauer in guidance. 

Sign Club Meeting Information: February 11th; there will be a guest speaker, you won’t want to miss

It's Almost Valentines Day!! Show that someone special you care by sending them a flower. We will take orders for Carnation Flowers before school and during both lunch shifts in the Commons every day until Valentines Day. Each flower will cost $1.00. Flowers will be delivered on February 14th during 3rd and 5th hours.  See Mrs. Devlin with questions.

Juniors - if you are interested in being in the work program next year see Mrs. Devlin or Mr. Koger for an application. There are also applications in the guidance office.

Current sophomores and juniors interested in CACC, listen up!!  The CACC application is now open. If you are interested in applying for CACC next year, please see Mrs. Lauer or Mr. Kyes ASAP to register online. CACC programs are first come, first serve and they will go quickly! Make sure you register with Mrs. Lauer or Mr. Kyes today!!

Capitoline Yearbooks are still on sale at $70 a copy.  If you don't have the full amount, you can pay a portion to secure a yearbook for you.  Make your check or money order out to Springfield High School or bring your cash to room 254.

Groups, Clubs and Organizations Pictures are today. 

Seniors must have their senior quotes in to the yearbook by today.

This month we will be "Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Aretha Franklin."  The program will be on February 22nd.  The "Trivia Contest" questions will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  In order to win this contest, first period classes will have ten minutes to bring their correct answers to room 254 or to place them in Mrs. Eslahi's mailbox.  Students will also have the opportunity to win prizes in the essay and poster contests; see Mrs. Eslahi for details.

Attention all young men planning to try out for baseball. There will be a short mandatory meeting tomorrow after school at 2:30 in the commons to cover information you will need to know for tryouts and practices. If you are unable to attend, put a note in Coach Steinwart's mailbox in the main office. 

Our annual Sadie’s Dance is this weekend! Guest forms are available for pick up in the guidance office. You must have one if your guest does not attend SHS. Tickets will be $10 a person and will be sold during lunch in the Commons Wednesday-Friday or at the door. Dress is more casual than Homecoming. Cant wait to see you! Come out Saturday from 8-10.

There will be a short, mandatory meeting for any girl interested in trying out for Softball on this Thursday right after school in room 116. See Coach Koger with questions. 

Feminist Club meeting will be Thursday right after school in Ms. Moon’s room 364!  All are welcome! 

The Fall Play DVDs are now available. If you ordered and paid for an “Ask Any Girl" DVD, please pick up your order this week from Mrs. Eaton in Rm 366.

Seniors, scholarships opportunities are starting to come in. Ways you can be prepared: check school website, listen to announcements, be signed up for the class Remind account - if you aren't, the directions are outside of Mr. Kramer's office at 153A.  

This week's opportunities include:
If you are planning to go into education.  
If you are an alum of the local Boys and Girls Club.  
If you plan on going into a medical or nursing field of study.  

Please stop by and let Mr. Kramer get you started on the process

College Spring Visits are starting to be scheduled. Please be sure to check outside of Mr. Kramer's office for a list. Next week Monday the Army will be in 5th hour, and Wednesday Truman State will be in 5th hour. See Mr. Kramer with questions. 

Art club will be meeting Thursday until 4:30 pm.

Students, if you didn’t pick up your bus passes before winter break, please go to 108 during your lunch of after school to get them.
