Good morning Springfield High! Today is Thursday, March 21, 2019

AVANTI'S IS HERE, AVANTI'S IS HERE!  Pick up your pre-ordered Gondolas or Bread in the Commons during both lunch shifts and until 4 pm.  There will be extra Gondolas, $7 each and Bread $3 each to purchase.  Questions, contact Sabrena Campbell 691-5401.

Attention all freshman, sophomores, and juniors....the class lists for SAT and PSAT are posted outside all of the classroom doors. FRESHMAN will be on the 2nd Floor, SOPHOMORES on the 3rd floor, and JUNIORS on the 1st floor. If you cannot find your name or the room you will be testing in, please come to the guidance office. Today you will be in your testing classroom during 6th hour for the Pre-ID session for the SAT/PSAT. Please see the guidance office with questions. 

Due to the Avanti’s sale today, BAS is postponing pizza sales until next Thursday March 28th. See you then! 

Parents and students - remember, 9th, 10th and 11th graders are testing on April 9th.  All students are expected to bring their own calculator for the test.

Juniors & Seniors - pick up your permission forms for April 9th in guidance.  Juniors - yellow form, Seniors - orange form. You must have the forms in by the date on the bottom for a junior early dismissal that day or a senior Activity day. See Mr. Kyes, Mr. Williams or Dr. Leardi with any questions.

Any student who wishes to sign up for an AP test, needs to sign up in the Guidance office until Friday. The price for each exam is $94, unless you qualify for a reduced rate.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Smith or Mr. Barnes.

Attention Juniors: The Board of Education invites interested current high school juniors to apply to become the 2019-2020 Student School Board Member. One junior will be chosen to serve during their senior year. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12th  and can be found on our school’s homepage. Please see Mr. Kyes or Mrs. Gordy if you are interested in applying. 

Students please make sure all your lab fees are paid.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Madonna in the main office.

Capitoline Yearbooks are still on sale at $70 a copy.  If you don't have the full amount, you can pay a portion to secure a yearbook for you.  Make your check or money order out to Springfield High School or bring your cash to room 254

Chicago Field Trip to see Shakespeare's Hamlet still has some seats for eleventh and twelfth graders.  See you literature teacher for more information.

Any girls interested in playing volleyball next year, there will be an information meeting and sign-up in the cafeteria on April 10th at 2:30 pm.

Your Senator Football team will be tackling your hunger tomorrow morning by selling Krispy Kream Donuts in the Commons and the Annex. $1 per donut or $10 for 12. You can also pre order a case for only $8 through Coach Graham! Order today! 

Boys interested in playing basketball next season, please drop by Coach Crum's room and pick up an open gym schedule. You need to be an incoming freshman sophomore, junior or senior to participate. 

Seniors: Any student planning on going to Lincoln Land next year needs to consider signing up outside Mr. Kramer's office for the registration day trip on April 26th. We will go out to the LLCC campus and take care of all required procedures for you to become enrolled for next semester. If you are going, please apply to LLCC and sign up outside Mr. Kramer's office. 

Art club will be meeting after school today in room 233 until 4:30

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois (BGCCIL) in partnership with the City of Springfield and the Sangamon County Juvenile Justice Council, is hosting its 4th annual Teen Job Fair and Resource Expo. The event will take place April 5th from 6pm to 8:30pm at The Boys & Girls Club’s Central Unit, located at 300 S. 15th Street.  Job seekers can get help filling out job applications, may receive on the spot interviews, and have a chance to enter multiple prize drawings. The event features many local employers and youth service organizations. The job fair will also include free food and beverages. This event is free to attend and geared toward teenagers 16-19 who are seeking employment or volunteer opportunities. Parents are also welcome to accompany their teen participant.

Join us for project mack’s diversity, unity and inclusion summit 2019 on Saturday.  This unforgettable experience will empower, improve, and enhance your approach to dealing with diversity and inclusion in your school and community.  This interactive day will create a space to build relationships with students from other schools while engaging in critical, thoughtful and challenging dialogue about moving beyond tolerance, leveraging differences, and changing the story.  This is free to attend for all students.  Please pick up a flyer in the main office if you are interested.  

Jared Grimble, 2006 Springfield High graduate and 3x Grammy credited artist is returning to his hometown of Springfield to put on a show of a lifetime. Joined along side him will be featured singers from recent seasons of The Voice and American Idol. A portion of the proceeds will be going to the American Lung Association.   Jared Grimble graduated from Springfield High in 2006. He was involved choir, Seven and Senators and other musical activities at SHS. He  is currently living in LA writing and recording music. He has participated in The Voice and American Idol.  Saturday from 7:00-11:00pm at Crowne Plaza. Students, your SMTD bus passes are in 108. Please get them on your lunch or after school.
