Junior Students - Are you interested in becoming a teacher? UIS is offering a Dual Credit teacher education class for Senior year. For more information, sign up in the Guidance Office or see Mr. Kyes ASAP. Sign-ups are on a first-come-first-served basis.
Parents and students - remember, 9th, 10th and 11th graders are testing tomorrow and all students are expected to bring their own calculator for the test.
Attention Juniors: The Board of Education invites interested current high school juniors to apply to become the 2019-2020 Student School Board Member. One junior will be chosen to serve during their senior year. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 pm Friday and can be found on our school’s homepage. Please see Mr. Kyes or Mrs. Gordy if you are interested in applying.
Signing day will be April 29th at 3:30 pm in the Commons. Please see Mr. Connolley for information.
Capitoline Yearbooks are still on sale at $70 a copy. If you don't have the full amount, you can pay a portion to secure a yearbook for you. Make your check or money order out to Springfield High School or bring your cash to room 254

The Springfield High School Varsity Boys Tennis Team competed in a dual meet against Richwoods High School the weekend of March 30th, finishing 3-6. Brian Becker and David Jiang posted victories at singles and then teamed up for a win at first doubles. Eric Martin, Zeke Cross, David Ye, Sascha Millard and Adrian Russo also played closely contested matches. The Junior Varsity finished 2-5 with the doubles teams of Aydin Lane/Alec Breneman and Judah Schleyhan/Carter Lyddon coming away with victories. Pairs Jatin Dhamrait/JT First, Joel Ryan/Gavin Hinson and Miles Wilson/Adrian Russo also played competitive matches.
The Springfield High School Varsity Boys Tennis Team competed in a dual meet against Rochester High School last week, finishing 8-1. Raj Sinha and Sascha Millard outlasted their opponents in three sets, while Eric Martin, David Jiang and Zeke Cross posted convincing victories at singles. All three doubles teams of Raj Sinha/Eric Martin, David Jiang/Zeke Cross and Sascha Millard/David Ye cruised to victories. The Junior Varsity finished 8-6 with the doubles teams of Jatin Dhamrait/Miles Wilson, Aydin Lane/Joel Ryan, Judah Schleyhan/Carter Lyddon, Dae-Cheon Pippin/Diego Llosa and Aaron Halloway/Justin Nwajei posting victories.
The baseball team won both of its games over spring break over Decatur MacArthur by the scores of 16 to nothing and 12 to 2. Chad Haller led the way on offense with 4 hits to go along with 3 apiece by Will Reiser, Rico Johnson, Luke Flesner, and Ben Hartl. Hartl also added a homerun, while Reiser and Adam Passmore picked up the pitching wins. The 7 and 3 Solons head into the stronger part of their schedule starting tomorrow when they open City play against Washington Street rival SHG at 4:15 at Lanphier Park.
The SHS boys track and field team competed in the Belleville West Invitation on Saturday and placed 10th out of 32 teams! Placers for SHS were: the fresh/soph 4x800 relay team of Braden White, Ian Kaisner, Jack Casey, and Drake Rutledge placed 7th; Will Formea placed 7th in the 800; Jaylen Gary placed 4th in the high jump; Matthew Abe-Bell placed 4th in the 400; and Robert Williams won the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. The boys compete on Wednesday at Lanphier starting at 4:30!
The softball team split a pair of games on Saturday, beating Auburn 6-4. The bats came to life in the 5th inning. Malia Bender went 3 for 3 including a home run! Kira Brown was also 3 for 3 and Maggie Beauman, Maddie Cleary and Alaina Elberson had some big hits. Hunter Lee also had a home run on the day. The girls play tomorrow at SHG at 4:30.
The class of 2022 is now selling long sleeves and Jogger sweatpants. Long sleeves are $15 and the Joggers are $25. Forms are due THIS WEDNESDAY. Please see a class officer if you’d like one.
