Attention students and teachers! The SHS Photo Video Club is proud to present the first Solon Film Festival. Everyone is invited to this fun night, showcasing two student films and more. The films are so bad they are entertaining. Come support the club, May 3rd, at 7:00 pm in the SHS auditorium. Witness our stars, Will Moffett, as a crazed old man, and Noah Deassuncao as a rubber ducky obsessed jerk. Bring your friends and family to this one night event!

The softball team capped a big comeback with a complete team effort and a walk off hit by Kira Brown to beat SHG 11-10! Kira Brown, Skyler Wantland, Malia Bender and Mallory Vespa all had multiple hits! This was the first time since April 11, 2001 that SHS has beaten SHG. Congrats ladies!

The fresh/soph boys track and field team finished 2nd out of 5 teams at the Solon/Lion Open last night.  Event Champions on the fresh/soph level were: Jack Casey in the 3200; the 4x800 relay of Clayton Kurmann, Oliver Rauscher, Even Retheford and Keegan Meeks; and Henry Kling in the High Jump.   The Varsity boys track and field team finished 1st out of 5 teams at the Solon/Lion Open last night.  Event Champions for SHS were: Matthew Abe-Bell in the 100 and 300 hurdles; Robert Williams in the 110 Hurdles, and the 400; Kyle Boughter in the 800; Qa’Ron Hawkins in the long jump, and the 4x400 relay team of Matthew Abe-Bell, Ryan Waldinger, Will Formea, and Robert Williams.  The boys next compete at the Capital City Classic hosted by Lanphier on Saturday.

The baseball team gave a great effort overall, but fell to SH-G by a 5 to 1 score in game 2 of City play. Highlights included the pitching of Adam Passmore who threw 6 and one third innings allowing only 3 runs after leaving with a 1 to 1 tie in the seventh. Will Reiser had an RBI single, but SHS totalled only 4 hits against an outstanding pitching performance by the Cyclones. Next up is a 10 a.m. single game at Lincoln Land Saturday against Granite City.

The girls track and field team competed against Jacksonville and SHG yesterday. Event winners for SHS were: Madison Ridley in the 3200, Sarah Byrd in the 100, Varsha Iyer in the 800, Ruth Edwards in the 1600, and Deneah Day in the 200.

Would you please now rise for the Pledge of Allegiance!
