There are three ways to access the SHS athletic schedules and information.  On the SHS page located on the right hand side there is a blurb titled Athletic Schedules and Information click on this and it will take your there;  you may also go to the athletic page and click on the sentence titled Athletic Schedules and Information; or your may go the following link  https://springfieldhighschoolil.bigteams.com

Signup is now available for the October 16th PSAT/NMSQT which is the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.  The due date to sign up is tomorrow.  Please sign up in the Guidance Office if you are interested.  The cost of this test is $18.

The homecoming dance is September 21st at SHS. It’s going to be awesome.  If you are bringing a guest from another school, you must get the blue guest form from the guidance office and have all information filled out correctly.  ALL GUESTS MUST BRING A PHOTO ID WITH THEM. 

If you are thinking about taking the October Saturday SAT, and you might be eligible for a fee waiver, please sign up ASAP with Mr. Kramer.

Atención! All are welcome to join Spanish Club for as little as $5. Spanish Club members can enjoy fun activities like the back to school fiesta, watching movies in Spanish, the International Dinner, paintball, capture the flag, bowling, dinner at a Mexican restaurant, and more!  For information on joining, please see Señor Reichert, Señora Armstrong, or Señora Hopper.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has been helping students explore the different aspects of engineering by having a“First Nighter” scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 at the IDOT Central Office, 2300 South Dirksen Parkway in Springfield.  It will be an opportunity for students, their parents, and teaching professionals to ask questions and for the students to sign up for the Engineering Exploring Program.  The participation fee for new Explorers is $60.00 (payable September 18th), which will cover registration fees and the Engineering Explorers Post 6 T-shirt.  See Leardi if you have questions.

Avanti's is Coming!  Order your Avanti's Famous Original Gondola, only $7, or Avanti's Loaf of Bread, only $3, NOW from any German student, German Club student or from Herr Koeppel.  Original Gondolas are Avanti's famous 16" sweeter bread with salami, ham, American cheese, and lettuce.  YUM!  Order yours now through Tuesday, September 17.  Delivery is Thursday, September 26, during both lunch shifts and until 4 pm.  Questions, contact Sabrena Campbell 691-5401.

Attention SHS! This is the last week to join German Club. Please print out the German Club form located on the German Club website, fill it out and turn it in to Herrn Koeppel in room 250 by today. Please do not forget to bring your membership fee of $5.

Achtung Achtung German Club! Our Kick-off Party with Spanish Club will be in the commons today from 6-8pm. If you are interested, please see Herrn Koeppel in room 250 for more information and sign up. Hope to see you there. 

Junior & Senior girls - if you are playing in the Powder Puff football game this Sunday at 11:00 a.m., you must have your parent permission form turned into the main office by 3:30 today. No one will be allowed on the field without proper paperwork for the Powder Puff.

Your 2019-2020 yearbooks are on sale NOW!!! Please go to yearbook forever.com to purchase but be sure to do it now because prices will increase throughout the semester! Past yearbooks are still for sale in Moon’s room, 364.  

Spirit Day Themes are here! Monday will be Out of Date Trends, come dressed to celebrate any trend that has come and gone, Tuesday is Career/Professional Day - dress as any profession, Wednesday is Dynamic Duo Day, dress with any partner or group in matching attire, Thursday is Decade's Day 9th grade are in 50's gear, 10th dressed as 60's, 11th the 70's, 12th celebrate the 80's, and finally Friday is color day - Senior in togas, juniors in black, sophomores in red, and freshmen in brown. Every start planning now to participate. 

Any students who are interested in donating blood, Please stop by room 510 to sign up. Must be at lease 16 and weight at least 110 pounds.

Are you a high school student interested in pursuing a career in Nursing? Join us on Tuesday, September 17th at 3:30 in room 510 for a brief informational meeting about Scrub Club. Please see Jaelyn Logan, Jada Maney, or Mr. Covey for more information.

Our Homecoming week just keeps getting better.  On Wednesday, September 18, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. is our annual Solon Olympics is in the gym. It’s free and everyone is welcome to watch freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors compete in games and activities. If you are a participant, you must have your parent permission form signed and turned in by Tuesday, September 17 at 3:30. No late slips will be accepted. If you are coming to watch and cheer, no slips necessary!

Senior Kylie Fair out-dueled one of the best golfers in central Illinois last night at the Rail.  Kylie’s terrific round of 2 over par 38 was 3 shots better than Williamsville’s Faith Davis.  Kylie’s round propelled the Senators to victories over Williamsville, Pana and Gillespie to improve their record to 7 and 1 on the year.  

If you are interested in playing scholastic bowl this year, tryouts will be in room 510 at 3:30 on Wednesday the 18th.  Team will be posted after 5pm on Friday September 20.

The boys soccer team defeated Quincy Notre Dame 4-1 last night. Carter Formea, Wolf Brethorst and Laith Abdullh scored for the Senators. Collin Taylor recorded 7 saves.

The JV Boys Golf team took control early in a dual match against Rochester and dominated the Rockets for 9 holes. Chris Leming led the way shooting a 41 while Luke Elston contributed nicely with a 43. The JV team remains undefeated this year in dual matches. Good job boys.
