Student Parking - Any junior or senior interested in a SHS parking space may sign up in the main office until end of the day tomorrow. Names will be put in a lottery and drawn on Thursday. The cost will be $35. Remember that there is a limited number of spaces available.
Spirit Days for City Tournament: Tomorrow musical genre day (dress to represent your favorite genre); Thursday - Solon plus (or white shirt); Friday- Samurai (or black shirt); Saturday- why so serious?? (Dress as wacky as possible if you’re a senior! Wear your red shirt if you’re an underclassmen). Everyone come out to every day of city and get wild! Bring home that spirit award!
City Tournament Tickets are on sale. If ticket are purchased at school the cost will be $5 each; if tickets are purchased at BOS Center the cost will be $6 each. Tickets will be on sale in the Main Office of SHS for the following dates and times: Today until 3:45 pm; tomorrow 8:00 am–3:45 pm,
Thursday 8:00 am–12:30 pm for Thursday game only and 8:00 am–3:45 pm for Friday and Saturday’s game; Friday 8:00 am–12:30 pm. No tickets will be sold after 12:30 pm on Friday. Tickets must be paid for in cash.
In honor of upcoming Black History Month, SHS is sponsoring a writing contest titled “The Legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.” The winning prize is $100. All essays are due to Mrs. Eaton by February 14th, 2020. There is no word minimum or limit, so submit an essay and win $100!!
The District and African American History Museum is hosting a Black History Trivia Bowl in celebration of Black History month. Any and all interested students who would like to compete for our SHS team on January 28th, please see Mr. Kramer in 326 or 153A or Mr. Robinson in the Guidance Office by the end of the week.

Boys and Girls track practice begins on January 27th for all athletes not involved in a winter sport. If you plan on coming out for the track team, you must sign up with Coach Cotner (Boys) or Coach Hale(Girls) and get an informational sheet.

Congratulations to the Springfield High School IN Session showchoir, receiving 1st Runner-up in the small Group Division at the 38th Annual Mt Zion Midwest showchoir competition. Great way to satrt off the season. Also Congratulations to junior showchoir member, Allie Randall, for receiving Best Performer in a show. Next competition will be on Saturday, February 8th in Danville, IL.
Drama Club will be meeting Monday 1/27 after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room.
All Poetry Out Loud performers need to stop by Mrs. Eaton’s room to sign up for a performance time on 1/31.
Both Scholastic Bowl teams competed in Baron Robinson Memorial Tournament on Saturday. Springfield A placed 2 in their division and Springfield B placed 4 in theirs. Shout out to Aidan Fein and Jack Casey for their individual placings.
Congratulations to the boys basketball team for winning two games Saturday in the Galesburg Shootout. The team won the first game over Dunlap 75 to 65 behind 23 points from Shane Miller, 18 points from Bennie Slater, and 12 points from Kobe Slater. The boys won the second game 73 to 46 over Chicago Comer Prep. Leading scorers were Shane Miller with 24, Bennie Slater with 16, and Tyvin Garrison with 11. The boys return to action on Thursday in the first game of the City Tournament.
SHS boys swimming and diving had two meets over the weekend. Several swimmers had best times, including Cort Sommer in the 200 and 500 frees, DAE-Cheon Pippin in the 100 free, Isaac Vizral in the 100 free, Arnav Negrecha in the 50 free, and Tanner Rivera in the 100 free, 100 Fly and 100 back. City is in one week! Be there!
The Southeast Wellness Team would like to invite everyone to visit our Wellness Table at this years city tournament. We will have both mental and physical health information along with pamphlets and guest speakers. We are really excited about this opportunity to shine light on the importance of mental and physical health. We look forward to seeing at this years city tournament Saturday, January 25th from 5:30-9:00.
The Springfield High Wrestling team had a great showing last Friday for the City Duals, beating Southeast 54-24, while losing close matches to Lanphier by a score of 36 - 40, and losing to SHG 36 - 42. Senators that won all three of their matches and being crowned city champions for their weight class are Armani Emery @ 106, Logan Kinison @ 113, Chris Macklin @ 126, Jesse Stewart @132, and Danny Stewart @ 145.
