ATTENTION ALL SHS STUDENTS and STAFF: Be a Senator has a great opportunity for raising money for Springfield High. For every yellow cap we collect from PEPSI products, we receive 5 CENTS. We need your help. Please place all YELLOW CAPS in the white Pepsi barrels in the commons. We will be collecting the caps until April 30. Thanks for your help!
Seniors, please remember to have your parent sign your permission form for April 27 and 28. Remember, you have three choices: College visit, job shadowing, or community service. The form must be returned by April 26 in order for your absence to be marked excused. Verification of your activity choices must be received by May 2.
Prom Dress give away!! These dresses have been made available through the JCPenney “Wear It, Rock It, Give It” program and other generous donors. Dresses will be given away on a first-come first-serve basis at the YMCA located at 4th & Cook at Healthy Kids Day tonight from 5:30 – 8:30 PM. The Springfield Urban League Scholarship is now available from Mrs. Povse. You must show proof of acceptance at an accredited college or university, write an essay on the topic "How has community involvement motivated you toward scholastic achievement?" and be available for an interview on June 1 or 2.
The Springfield High School Scarlet Line is excited to announce that tryouts for the 2011-2012 Dance Team are coming up! Tryouts will be held Monday, April 25th through Friday April 29th. Make a movie, win some cash! The Student Film Club is starting their third annual Student Video Contest. Three winning movies will be shown at Film Club’s Premiere Night, and the winning movie will take home $150. See the main office for flyers with more information!
Hey SHS-if you're looking for a volunteer opportunity, Lindsay Elementary School has an opportunity for you. The school is hosting a carnival on Saturday May 14th from 11:45-3:15. This opportunity would be great for current sophomores interested in applying for NHS next year. See Mrs. Ruedin, room 360, to sign up.
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Mon., May 2, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Friday, April 29. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! Senior NHS members: the deadline to purchase Golden Laurels Tickets is April 26. The next mandatory meeting is April 26. Junior NHS members: the next mandatory meeting is April 29.
Seniors, turn over those couch cushions, look under the bed, and clean out those lockers! It's time to turn in your overdue library books and pay those lost book fines before cap and gown day. Mrs. Dahmane thanks you.
Any candidate interested in trying out for the 2011-2012 Cheerleading squads must attend with the parent/guardian Informational tryout meeting Monday, April 25th. The meeting is at 6:30pm in the commons. Please bring your completed tryout packet with you if you haven't already turned it in. Remember, if your parent does not attend the meeting, you will not be eligible for the 2011-2012 squads. Any questions see Coach Povse in room 160.
Attention all students who have not taken Behind The Wheel yet and have had a permit for at least 2 weeks, you can now sign up for summer Behind The Wheel. Please see Ms. Dvorak in room 128.
Any Boys soccer player that has not turned in a uniform needs to do so immediately to Mr.Dorr before you leave for Spring Break today.
