You must get a pass from Mrs. Povse or from the Guidance Office to be excused to hear these reps. Passes are not required for the LUNCH visits which take place in the Commons. A complete list of the representative visits is posted in the glass case outside of Guidance as well as on the school website under the GUIDANCE link.

JUNIORS: ON SEPT. 13 during your English class period Mr. Crum and Mrs. Povse will meet with you to discuss college search, college visits, college and military recruiter visits, testing, GPA, class rank, NCAA and much more.

It’s written in the stars that you buy a Homecoming t-shirt to flaunt your SHS Pride! Buy a Homecoming shirt for $14 in the commons during both lunch shifts. Thru Friday, September 9th. Sign up now for one of these amazing shirts!

Attention class of 2014. Your class officers are having a bake sale at the homecoming tailgate to raise money for your senior prom!! We need volunteers to help make cookies, brownies, and rice crispy treats. If you are interested in donating any of these items, please see an officer to sign up.

Attention German Club! Deadline for the membership fee of $8 and the no-alcohol and drug policy form is due by 3:30 PM today.

Any Sophomore or Junior interested in taking the PSAT need to come to the Guidance Office and sign up. The test will be given Wednesday, October 12th during periods 1-3. The deadline for registering in September 22nd. There is a $17 fee (cash or check payable to Springfield High School).

There will be a meeting for any student interested in High Pride after school in the auditorium on Tuesday. It is $10 to join and each member receives a shirt. If you can’t make the meeting, sign up with Coach Reed in room 228.

Join French Club! Anyone can join for $4. Come see Mrs. Boltz in room 268 for info. Our next event will be selling Popeye’s at Tailgate.

Homecoming Tickets go on sale today in the Commons. Each student can purchase only 1 ticket- either a couple ticket or a single ticket. Tickets will be sold through next Thursday, September 15th. Tickets prices are $8 for a single ticket and $15 for a couple’s ticket. However, if you buy your ticket Saturday at the dance the price is $15 per person. Buy early, get a discount! If your guest does not attend SHS you will need to pick up a Guest form in the Main office or Guidance office. You must present the completed form along with ID’s at the dance.

German Club is having its kick-off party at Southwind Park from 4 -7 PM on Sunday, September 11. Please make sure you sign up with a German teacher so you can attend. No walk-ins. We hope to see you there and bring your own drinks.

Hey Senators, do you want to help save the planet or just in search of some service hours? Look no further! Come to the first official Environmental Club meeting Tuesday the 13th in room 510. See you there!

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Sep. 27, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Tue., Sep. 26. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! She received 3 units of blood through two life-saving transfusions! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

Be A Senator will be selling Rally Towels at both lunch shifts next week for $5. Show your Senator Pride and wave the Red & Black!

Speech & Acting Team: Has anyone ever told you that you have a perfect voice for radio? Do you enjoy acting or public speaking? Then the SHS Speech and Acting Team is for you! We will hold our new member informational meeting on Monday September 12th from 3:30 - 4:15 in room 362. That's any new member interested in speech and acting team in room 362 at 3:30 on Monday the 12th.

Chess Club: Are you interested in learning to play Chess? Maybe. Do you like suspenders? Probably. Are you looking for an excuse to hang out with Mr. Sanders? Of course! Then you should definitely come to Chess Club! We meet every Tuesday from 3:30 - 4:30 in room 370. See you there.

The Girls golf team defeated Williamsville last night. Leading the way was Alax Floyd with a 42 and Becca Ramirez with a 43. Kristin Cullen carded a 51 and Mackenzie McDermott with a 56.

The Volleyball team went 3 games with Bloomington last night but didn’t get the win. Courtney Pence led SHS with 18 kills, 17 digs, 11 service points, and 2 aces. Lindsey Buhnerkemper added 23 assists, Meghan Fetter had 11 kills and Kelsey Hulcher tailied 14 digs. Their next match is home Tuesday vs Lincoln.
