A reminder that today is the last day of 1st quarter and school will be dismissed at 2:17 today.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS: THE FOLLOWING COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES WILL HAVE REPRESENTATIVES HERE TO SPEAK WITH YOU ABOUT THEIR SCHOOLS:

Oct. 18 Southern IL University -Carbondale - 8:30 a.m.
Oct. 20 St. Ambrose -9:30 a.m.

You must get a pass from Mrs. Povse or from the Guidance Office to be excused to hear these reps. Passes are not required for the LUNCH visits which take place in the Commons. A complete list of the representative visits is posted in the glass case outside of Guidance as well as on the school website under the GUIDANCE link.

Reminder: A representative from Yale University will be holding an informational meeting for students and parents on Monday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

If you enjoy reading, great food, and prizes, then be sure to sign up for the Read for a Lifetime program. See Mrs. Dahmane in the SHS Library or your English teacher for details. Deadline to sign up is TODAY.

Permission slips for the October 19 SIU-Carbondale bus trip are due this Monday. If Mrs. Povse does not have enough permission slips by the end of the day on Monday the trip will be cancelled.

Be A Senator has 2 prime parking spots available for 2nd quarter! You may buy a ticket for a chance to win one of the spots during both A lunch and B lunch from Mrs. Yoggerst in the commons. Tickets are 25 cents and there is no limit on the number of tickets you may buy. The drawing will be today; the winners will need to bring his/her driver’s license, car make and model information, and insurance card on Monday 10/17 and register them with Mrs. Fisher in the main office. We will have a drawing again for 3rd quarter at the end of 2nd quarter.

The Book Fair is coming to the SHS library next week! Be sure to stop by and check out the great selection. The Book fair will also be open during Parent/Teacher Conference times.

Seniors interested in applying to Eastern Illinois University for Free:
On November 17 an admissions representative from EIU will be here to conduct a live admissions program. Have your application, essay, transcript, (and letters of recommendation if needed) and your application will be processed on the spot FOR FREE. No application fee! You will be notified of your acceptance that day. See Mrs. Povse for additional details.

Attention all JSA members: those who plan on attending Fall State - your permission slips and money are due by next Wednesday.

SHS Idol auditions will be held in the choir room October 19 starting right after school. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Elmore in the choir room. SHS Idol will take place on November 15 at 7 PM in the auditorium.

Permission slips for Spanish Club’s wiener roast are available from the Spanish teachers and are due by 3:30 October 19th.
