All current scholarships may be found on the school website under GUIDANCE/under SCHOLARSHIP DATABASE.
The University of Illinois Lincolnland Illini Club is offering 2 $750 scholarships toward tuition. A 200 word essay entitled
“Why U of I” is the requirement. Due May 11.
The Family Service Center is offering a scholarship for students who were in foster care or are adopted. Applications due April 30.
See Mrs. Povse for these applications.

All seniors: As you receive scholarships or merit awards from private sources, colleges and universities please inform Mrs. Povse so she can post them on the scholarship board.

SENIORS APPLYING FOR THE MCCOURTNEY SCHOLARSHIP: this scholarship application requires a page from Mrs. Povse. As you complete the scholarship please give it to her to process the transcript and the data verification. All Mc Courtney scholarships are due to Mrs. Povse by Tuesday, March 27. She will ensure that they meet the postmark deadline.

Senior minority students who are applying for the Springfield Urban League scholarship - Be sure that you note the new essay prompt, "Describe how you have demonstrated leadership ability both in and out of school.” The prompt on the website was from last year.

Juniors interested in being in the work program next year must turn in an application. You can pick one up outside Mrs. Devlin’s office room 121. Turn apps into Mrs. Devlin’s mailbox in the main office. Students interested in applying for an Illinois Department of Transportation Office job must turn their application in asap. Deadline for IDOT jobs is approaching quickly.

Student Council needs 15 student volunteers to work at the Senior Citizen Dinner on Wednesday, March 21st. Volunteers will serve food from 4:30 - 7, and will receive complimentary dinner. Volunteers can also earn NHS hours. To sign up, contact Miss Maloney in room 124.

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Mar. 27, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Mar. 26. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! She received 3 units of blood through two life-saving transfusions! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

SHS drivers - tired of having to walk from Glenwood and beyond after parking your car? Buy a chance to win the one of the two Be A Senator choice spots for 4th quarter. Chances are .25 each and will be available from Miss Watkin for the remainder of this week during both lunch shifts. The drawing will be held tomorrow afternoon. Winners must provide a valid driver's license, valid insurance card, and auto information to Mrs. Fisher in the main office on Monday.

Computer love is in! If you want to find out your true love go to the commons at lunch to pick up your form. The cost is $2. We are only selling them until the end of the week.

Superintendent Roundtable Members - Permission slips to Purdue University need to be turned in to your Assistant Principal and forwarded to Mrs. Nalo Mitchell at 1900.

Sophomores -There was a tie for the Josten’s oldest ring contest. Shelby Small and Kelly Adamski each brought in 1924 Class rings. Shelby brought in her Great-Grandmother’s class ring and Kelly brought in her Great-Great-Grandfather’s ring. Each will receive an additional $50 off the price of their rings. Sophomores still wishing to order Class Rings may do so Wednesday, March 21st before school in the commons.

Today is Redemption Thursday! Gather up all of your SHLotto cards and take them to the commons during your lunch shift to claim your prize. Thank you for Being A Senator!

The Do Something Club would like to thank all of the students & staff that donated money to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl For Kids' Sake Fundraiser! Thanks to your generosity, in a short period of time, we collected a total of $748. A special thank you to the Do Something Club members that collected money. Our top pledge collectors were Robbie Staff & Aliyah Kinsel as they each collected over $260. Thank you Robbie, Aliyah, and the Do Something Club!
