The University of Illinois Lincolnland Illini Club is offering 2 $750 scholarships toward tuition. A 200 word essay entitled
“Why U of I” is the requirement. Due May 11.
The Family Service Center is offering a scholarship for students who were in foster care or are adopted. Applications due April 30. See Mrs. Povse for these applications.

SENIORS APPLYING FOR THE MCCOURTNEY SCHOLARSHIP: this scholarship application requires a page from Mrs. Povse. As you complete the scholarship please give it to her to process the transcript and the data verification. All Mc Courtney scholarships are due to Mrs. Povse by Tuesday, March 27. She will ensure that they meet the postmark deadline.
Senior minority students who are applying for the Springfield Urban League scholarship - Be sure that you note the new essay prompt, "Describe how you have demonstrated leadership ability both in and out of school.” The prompt on the website was from last year.
Juniors interested in being in the work program next year must turn in an application. You can pick one up outside Mrs. Devlin’s office room 121. Turn apps into Mrs. Devlin’s mailbox in the main office. Students interested in applying for an Illinois Department of Transportation Office job must turn their application in ASAP. Deadline for IDOT jobs is approaching quickly.
Student Council needs 15 student volunteers to work at the Senior Citizen Dinner on Wednesday, March 21st. Volunteers will serve food from 4:30 - 7, and will receive complimentary dinner. Volunteers can also earn NHS hours. To sign up, contact Miss Maloney in room 124.
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Mar. 27, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Mar. 26. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! The Do Something Club would like to thank all of the students & staff that donated money to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl For Kids' Sake Fundraiser! Thanks to your generosity, in a short period of time, we collected a total of $748. A special thank you to the Do Something Club members that collected money. The boys Track and Field team placed 4th at the Charleston Indoor Invitational on Saturday at Eastern Illinois University. Event winners were: Peter Bremhorst in the 400. Indoor school records were set by the 4x200 relay team of Luke Farley, Dalton Timm, Peter Bremhorst, and Malik Harrison. The 4x400 relay team also set an indoor school record and earned an automatic bid to indoor state. The team consisted of Dalton Timm, Sam Cross, Peter Bremhorst, and Malik Harrison. The boys conclude the indoor season this weekend and the Illinois Prep Top Times invitational, which serves as the unnoficial indoor state meet. Congrats to the boys on a great indoor season.
The Lady Senators Track & Field team finished 10th out of 39 teams at the Gene Armer Indoor Invitational Saturday. The 4 x 800 team of Christina Kropid, Mads Nelson, Christy Rolf, and Kirby Hale placed 1st. The 4 x 400 team of Kirby Hale, Christina Kropid, Sarah Sepanski, and Miriam Agamah was 5th, Maggie Corneliius placed 5th in the 3200 and Riley Jensen placed 6th in the pole vault.
Members of the Scarlet Line competed at the IDTA State dance competition held at the Assembly Hall in Champaign this past weekend. After performing a pom dance routine that they have perfected the past four weeks, the girls walked away with a sixth place finish while in the process defeating CS8 rival Chatham. One point was all that kept them from a fifth place trophy. Congratulations Kaylee, Alexis, Kayla, Mirranda, Annie, and Caragan!
The Girls Varsity Soccer team defeated Civic Memorial 5 to 0 in the semi-finals of the Carlinville Spring Cup. Julia Rosen scored 4 goals and Alex Carney scored the other for the Senators. Katie Stuva recorded the shutout. The Championship was stopped at halftime due to lighting. The Senators were declared co-champions.
