Any Sophomore or Junior interested in taking the PSAT need to come to the Guidance Office and sign up. The test will be given Wednesday, October 17th during periods 1-3. The deadline for registering in September 21st. There is a $17 fee (cash or check payable to Springfield High School).
Spanish Club applications are now available from the Spanish teachers. Get one and turn it in by Wednesday, September 12th. Then join us for tacos in the Commons after school September 19th.

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Sep. 25, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Sep. 24. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! Any student interested in being a member of this year’s Scholastic Bowl team should attend a meeting after school on Friday, September 14th in room 230. The meeting should take approximately 30 minutes. If you cannot attend the meeting please see Mr. Adkins sometime next week to get information.

Congratulations to the girls swim team for their outstanding performance at the Capital City Invitational on Saturday at Eisenhower pool. The girls won the 10-team invitational by over 150 points! The Senators swept all three relays with both the A and B 200 freestyle relay taking first and second! Individual first place finishers were Annah Carney, Brianna Zoschke, Cassidy Neely, Libby Opfer and Madison Milling. The winning medley relay included Cassidy Neely, Alex Carney, Megan Wilkey and Libby Opfer. The winning 200 freestyle relay included Annah Carney, Alex Carney, Megan Wilkey and Natalie Knox and the winning 400 free relay was Annah Carney, Libby Opfer, Madison Milling and Natalie Knox. The girls remain undefeated for the season!
The Boys Golf team placed first on Saturday in their half of the Mattoon Invitational, shooting a team total of 314, 4 strokes better than runner-up SHG. Mitchell Connolley had the low round for the Senators, coming in with a 75. Sam Funderburg carded a 78, Jack McCarthy an 80, with both Max Lister and Jack Campas shooting 81's. Tomorrow, the Senators start defense of their city title at 3:00 at Bunn.
The JV boys golf team won the 12-team tournament at Highland Park in Bloomington on Saturday. The teams score of 318 was 21 strokes better than 2nd place Normal U-High. The team was led by freshman Bailey Gill who won the tournament with a round of 74. Bailey was followed closely by runner-up Griffin Kopecky with a 75. Tommy Edwards and Jake Scott rounded out the scoring for Springfield with an 83 and 86 respectively.
The Cross Country team competed in the Lanphier Invite on Saturday at Lincoln Park. In the Girls JV race, Jillian Cole was the top finisher for SHS. In the Varsity Girls, SHS finished 1st in team standings. Sophia Gullo was the top finisher for SHS. In the Varsity Boys race, SHS finished 1st in the team standings. Tyler Owens was the top finisher for SHS. In the Boys Freshmen race, SHS finished 2nd in the team standings. Heath Warren was the top finisher for SHS. In the Boys JV race, Mike Neposchlan was the top finisher for SHS.
The Boys Varsity Soccer team improved to 5 and 2 with a 6 to 0 over Richwoods. Will Teichman, Zephen Merreighn and Nick Roth scored for the Senators. Eli Brower and Jesse Cooper recorded the shut-out
